Deskscaper keeps restarting explorer.exe

I've encountered issues with DeskScapes, starting with version 10 and now running 11.01 beta. The problem is that my entire desktop locks up, displaying the spinning wheel, and after 30 seconds, it restarts. I've traced the problem back to DeskScapes; uninstalling it, whether the beta or the previous version, resolves the issue.

My system specs are:

- Windows 11 Pro 23H2

- 64 GB RAM

- Ryzen 7 3700

- GeForce 3080 TI

All my drivers are current. I've even uninstalled the GeForce drivers, used the cleaning utility for GeForce, and installed the latest version.

Additionally, I'm using GeForce Studio 555.85, but this issue was present in earlier versions as well.

Is there a method to enable debugging to determine what causes explorer.exe to crash? I suspect that's the root of the problem.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please uninstall Deskscapes, reboot immediately, download the latest Deskscape 11.02 Beta, from your account download page. Install it. Reboot again immediately after installation finished. Retest it and report back.

Thank you.

That did not work. It's still crashing and restarting explorer.exe.

Dnita, several things may be happening. The version of DeskScapes you are using may have been corrupted, or there is a possible software conflict on your system. It happens rarely, but sometimes a file can get messed up while downloading. Perhaps your problem is being caused by Riva Tuner or MSI Afterburner software or drivers that are connected to your Geforce graphics card. And that right there is your software conflict that is preventing Deskscapes from working correctly. If that's not it, it may be time to do a purge and reinstall. The following user had a similar problem on Windows 10...

Try one or the other, or both, and then report back.......

Thanks for the suggestion, but in my case, I do not have either. I already tried the clean method, using the batch that was provided here, clean uninstall, installed 11.02

Looking at the crash history, things are strange. The crashes are infrequent. One day, I have 4-5 explorer.exe applications hanging; other days, I have one, and some days, I have 0.

Cleanboot is not the same as purge and reinstall steps. Please check the link I posted and try it.
