Is the Workshop Button functional?

On my end, it is not doing anything... :(

I just checked.  It's working fine for me.  Maybe there was a temporary connection problem somewhere between your computer and Steam.

It doesn't work for me either. Do you need to have the Steam Cloud enabled? I don't. In any case, I'm off on a long cruise and won't be able to do any testing.

I don't have Steam Cloud enabled.  It's been off for many years.

The button still works for me.

Still not working for me.

I had previously installed via Epic.

Maybe something got hosed when I recently installed via Steam?

About to uninstall completely and reinstall....

Completely uninstalled Epic version.

Deleted the "My Games\GalCiv4" directory.

Completely uninstalled Steam version.

Reinstalled Steam version.

Still, Workshop button does nothing.  :(

Download Civ button does nothing as well. :(

Make sure Steam Overlay is turned on.

Thank you for your quick response.  I believe I finally discovered this myself a week ago and posted on another forum you moderate.

FYI - I only followed up on Steam as a result of the lack of any response on this forum.  Ultimately I solved the problem for myself by install GC3.  (however, another member of the Steam community was able to independently find a solution later the same day I did)

Since my posting, I have been chastised by Steam Moderators for posting the same issue on both forums.

I submit if I was able to get a meaningful response from this forum, I would not need to followup on Steam.

It is my understanding that the same people moderate both forums, correct?

It has been my experience:

  • that the same Moderators do not promptly respond here;
  • when they do respond on Steam, it is in a very different tone and demeanor than here - often with erroneous information or to minimize / dismiss a player reported issue;
    • (note - I am referring to Steam, not here)
  • I do not feel the Moderators are adequately monitored on Steam and do not maintain the same level of non-biased professionalism on both forums
  • ultimately there is a trade-off - slow / no response here - vs - prompt questionable responses on Steam
  • IMHO, it is time for a new group of Moderators
