Map still not updating after getting "new planet found" events

This is an ongoing issue where the map planet icon is not updating after a "new planet found" event.

It still keeps the old icon until the game is saved and then reloaded.  This makes it difficult to spot new planets.

I agree that this is an issue that needs to be addressed sooner rather than later.

For experienced players, we know that we need to save and reload the game after getting the new planet found event.  However, for newer players, they will unsuccessfully search all over for the new planet and eventually give up searching with a negative thought about the game.  When they are done playing, they will save their game and exit.  The next time they play, they will load the last save file and eventually stumble across the new planet.  They may or may not mentally associate the new planet with the event they saw during their last session.  This is not a good user experience which is why I recommend fixing it.

Just because experienced players have figured out a way to work around a bug, doesn't diminish the bug.

(i have to work around it as well...)

It really should be fixed.

Thank you for sharing these details, im bumping it back up to the team. May I also ask for a save file?

Sure, I will need to find one.

This is 100% reproducable, so I doubt it is really needed.

I have encountered it again, but the problem with sending you a save file is that the issue will not present itself when you load the save file.  You have to be playing as the "new planet event" occurs.

Here is a save file that will let you replicate this issue:

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/gd3j6ymtpd7dpnenwmvhx/New-Star-Is-Not-Visible.GC4Sav?rlkey=6yuxm6btm4duatzl7hv8wlm4c&st=d3iadb7n&dl=0

The steps to recreate the issue are:

  1. Load the above save file
  2. Navigate to my core world named "Denbra I"
    1. You should see a dead world named "Denbra II" to the right of the star as shown in the first screen snapshot below
  3. You should see an Event icon in the lower right-hand corner of the screen.  Click on it.
    1. You should see the Event window that says to "Seek out the high quality planet in a nearby star system." as shown in the second screen snapshot below.
  4. Click on the button to seek out the new planet.
  5. Navigate back to my core world named "Denbra I" and put your cursor over the formerly dead world named "Denbra II"
    1. You should see that Denbra II is no longer dead as shown in the third screen snapshot below.  However, the planet image still looks dead.
  6. Save the game using whatever name you want.
  7. Reload the game you just saved.
  8. Navigate back to Denbra I
  9. You should now see that Denbra II looks like an available planet.

You should now have replicated the issue.
