Start11 2.08 Beta Feedback Thread

With the Start11 2.08 beta release today, we are creating this thread so that users can report any observed issues.

Obtaining Object Desktop Insider Builds

Object Desktop Manager

Reporting an issue

Please include the following for anything found:

  • Exact Windows version \ build (winver.exe)

  • Detailed steps to recreate the issue seen

  • Screenshots and videos are very helpful.  Videos can be uploaded to a cloud drive service (GoogleDrive, DropBox, OneDrive, YouTube), with a shared link included in your post.  Images can be copied and pasted directly into a post.

  • If there are specific apps that the app does not work (well) with, please note what apps and their exact versions.  If any app is not common, a link to a trial version would be appreciated.

Thank you for your interest and any time you put into making Start11 v2 a better product.

Known issues

While we appreciate all feedback, please remember that we offer no official support for beta \ preview \ developer channel versions of Windows. If you report issues while in any of those early release channels, you should not expect them to be addressed unless it still exists in a retail version of Windows.

Why does the recent documents section in Start11 show folders/documents/etc that you browse but eventually it seems to clear itself out and show nothing?  I would assume that those things would stay there.  I am going to see how 2.08 behaves but all previous versions do this which seems not the same to the Windows 11 start menu.

The list is obtained from the OS so this should remain constant unless you have something clearing the list for privacy reasons.  There are some tools which do this.

I don't have any tools doing this so will keep an eye on it and report back.  Thanks, Neil.

I just had the Recent list clear out on Start11.  You can see from the image below.  I am using Windows 11 Build 26120.461.

I'm on Windows 10 22H2 build 19045.4355, and I'm having an issue when setting the Control Panel shortcut to "Display as a menu."

When I open up the menu, the fonts shortcut does not have an icon associated with it:

When I click on the shortcut, I get the following error:

Any ticket logged for the recent documents list disappearing?

It has been talked about internally but we have yet to see how to reproduce it.

Thus far, there are only two reports (yours and 1 other) and neither seems to indicate Start11 is the cause.
