Recent Documents doesnt work on Start 11 v2

AutomaticDestinations |!

As you can see below, 'Recent Documents' doesn't work on Start 11 v2. All I get is "AutomaticDestinations |!".

I'm on Windows 10 running the latest version of Start 11.

If I click on the "AutomaticDestinations |!" I get the message seen in my second image.

I have the exact same problem and have read this thread twice. I do have an automatic destinations folder, rebooted etc . This is clearly a known problem. Is there a fix? (I'm on start 2.56 and Windows 11 25H2)

Hello,

Also as a side note ..... I'm using my other account to login into this forum to find a fix for this. The account I used originally to purchase Start11, I can't use because its asking for a verification code but not sending me one by my main email account. I've tried 5 times

Most probably, you need to merge your old account with your new one. Please use this guide to merge them. https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1260290067/Merging+two+accounts

Thank you.

That merge didn't work. It said it would send 2 emails, one to each account but this time it didn't send an email to my 2nd account but strangely it sent one to my main account but it still wont send a verification code to that account. I want to use my main account as this was used to obtain my registration key. Very frustrating

Any progress on this bug?

It's really annoying that the bug is still there. I described above how you can fix the error manually. Have you tried that?

The ini file is usually hidden, which is why you have to change the Explorer settings to make it visible. Strangely enough, this doesn't work for me in Windows 11.

I've been using Total Commander for many years, which allows you to display hidden and system files by default.

You can also open and edit the “desktop.ini” file directly.

C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\desktop.ini

Once you have changed and saved the “desktop.ini” file, you must restart “explorer.exe” for the changes to take effect.

Here is the content of “desktop.ini” again:

Code: c++
  1. [.ShellClassInfo]
  2. LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21797
  3. InfoTip=@shell32,dll,-12692
  4. IconResource=%SystemRoot%\system32\imageres.dll,-117
  5. CLSID={0C39A5CF-1A7A-40C8-BA74-8900E6DF5FCD}

The essential line is the one with CLSID.

I'm using Directory Opus (hidden files are turned on) and I did see that ini file and mine was the same as yours but for some reason I can't see it all. So I copied your file into that directory and now there is no error but that group (recent documents) has gone from Start 11

Actually I rebooted. Created a test doc in Word and look what happened! I can't believe it. Thanks for your persistence and the huge amount of time you took doing trial and error experiments. I think Stardock should pay you royalties. I equally can't believe that they couldn't help us and it took your efforts to solve this. The reason the group didn't show was I didn't have a recent document. I'm surprised that the desktop.ini file is hidden again despite having hidden files turned on. Anyway a happy ending!
