WindowBlinds cannot apply themes

Greetings!
I have a problem with WindowBlinds themes from their theme catalogue ("Download more styles" menu).
When I press "Download" on any theme in that menu, it downloads theme files to C:\Users\Public\Documents\Stardock\WindowBlinds\ folder and even shows that the theme is downloaded and ready to be used (Button "Apply style" is shown). However, pressing that button does nothing and the theme is not shown in the "Style" menu. If ill reopen the app it will show that theme is not downloaded (Even tho files remain in the WindowBlinds folder). Themes that are preinstalled work normally, I have no issues with them.

What I tried to fix that(None of that helped):

  • Uninstalled WindowBlinds via the Control panel, rebooted and installed it again(With another reboot)
  • Uninstalled WindowBlinds via Purge bat file, rebooted and installed it again(With another reboot)
  • Switched to another user in Windows
  • Upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11 via the Windows update menu

Windows 11 Home 22H2 (Previously Windows 10 Home 22H2)
WindowBlinds 11.02 (017 x64 - Windows 11 Edition)
Paid licence

So any idea how to fix that?

That's strange. Does that happen with any other software that you download and install? If so, it could be something about your internet connection that might be corrupting downloads. That possibility doesn't sound right either, but I'm trying to understand what could possibly be the problem area. Usually problems stem from corrupted downloads, software conflicts, conflicts with antivirus apps, and so on. Do the download themes show up in  C:/users/public/public documents/stardock/windowblinds?  If they are not there, then that explains why there is a problem, partially anyway.

Hello!
Other software works perfectly, Windowblinds is the only problematic one.
I also tried to download themes directly from the website (WinCustomize.com) and launch themes with a WBA file. Example: https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/windowblinds/9652 Doesn't work either, just opens the WindowBlinds app and that's all. Antivirus and firewall are disabled so it shouldn't be the case (I use Windows Defender only).

Downloaded theme folders with files do show up in C:\Users\Public\Documents\Stardock\WindowBlinds\

I am wondering if the upgrade to windows 11 has anything to do with your problem. Was Windowblinds working fine under windows 10, that is, if you were using windowblinds on your windows 10 installation?

WindowBlinds had the same problems on Windows 10. I upgraded to Windows 11 as attempt to fix the problem

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. When you do the Win11 upgrade from Win10. Is it a fresh install or its an install over? If its install over it might carry the issue from Win10 to Win11. What you can try first is try cleanboot and see if there are some issue with your admin account or compatibility issue with other application.

Hello!

Firstly, install over. I upgraded my Windows via windows update page (In settings menu)

Secondaly, i tried a cleanboot with new computer account (With administrator rights) and noticed some diffrences in WindowBlinds behavior than if doing a normal boot:
Firstly, i got a popup that says "WindowBlinds is not installed correctly on this PC" but just once. I checked the FAQ page, and it says it might be a problem with ESET antivirus. I do not have this antivirus installed.
Secondly, when i tried to download any theme from "Download more styles" page, windows asked what app should I use to open WBA file. That never happened on a normal boot. I choosed WB11Config.exe to open that file and nothing happened besides opening the WindowBlinds menu. If i should choose another EXE app, let me know.

Please try purge and reinstall steps again under Windows 11, as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

Thank you,

Warning this post contains profane language:

The "wantabe" top company Stardock (but never will) has released some useful and interesting programs, some of which has put other software venders out of business. Their offering are interesting in that their employess do not know how to reaad or write (referencing ten years of emails sent and none ever replied. Maybe they do not understand English.

The gest of the content reference Winblinds and their blatant refusal to release ample documentation. Why the HELL would any sane individual go spend his or her hard earned money on a product that does not have documentation (esp. something like Winblinds which is used to create a sub-program, and deals with aa lot of graphics and possible programing). I would not even pirate it, I cannot use it).

Well some people somewhere know how to use the software as they create desktops, but if the frigging software will not load on each computer, each and every time called and load the desired file called, the program is defective. It may be like I problem we have started to experience, . ::: get this after a while ( a week or so) many programs will stop running, giving the error about 16 bit driver and not 64 bit being installed. Funny thing, the DAAMN program was just working and nothing had been installed or deleted, except Anus-orficsoft, may have updated. AV detected nothing. A test of the system showed that with or without an internet connect the problem continues, even with different version of Windows 10. But it never had a problem when it was turned off. When it is off, I never get error problems.....atlas this has nothing to do with Winblinds.

Maybe, just maybe we need to return to windows XP...ME...or 7 or do what I came close to doing last week. I brought the big trashcan in from outside and began throwing computer stuff away....after several hours I unpacked the trash can....at leat the office is not straighter

DO OTHER OPERATING SYSTEMS LIKE APPLE HAVE THESE PROBLEMS....WHY not just create an OS that operates the computer and let other companies create the software for it.....I forgot we had that, it was DOS.... well we are advancing towards the future  when human be a useless part of the culture and robots will be doing everything, leaving us to starve.
