Groupy Custom Rules Can't Be Used to ID Windows You Don't Want to Autogroup

It would be very helpful to have the choice under Custom Rules to set up rules to prevent certain windows from autogrouping because you get access to Process, Window Class and Window Caption. That way you could prevent application help files and certain other windows that pop up from grouping but still have the main windows for the application auto group. It seems like it would be an easy thing to implement since it appears all the needed logic is already present.

Can someone tell me if that would be possible to add in a future update?

Thanks

So, another example might be a new Outlook message- not auto grouping, yes? In other words, Outlook may group via rule, but not its spawned new message class, correct?

Yes... exactly. I have some apps like you've described Outlook, where a new window is spawned for various reasons, and I don't want it specifically to auto group. If I could use the Custom Rules to ID that by class or title or something, then I could prevent it from auto grouping.

Sometimes these spawned windows don't have the normal min, max, close buttons or even aren't resizable. Preventing them from auto grouping, while at the same time, directing the main window of the app to auto group would be very nice.

Thanks for listening and I hope it finds it way into a future update.

I also have a use case similar to this thread, and support the request to add an exclude option to the Create Rule feature. My use case is I have automatic grouping enabled for web browsers (both Edge and Chrome) but there are specific websites for which I do NOT want grouping to occur. For those web sites I use Windows 11's Snap Window feature which allows me to position those windows side-by-side, but Groupy prevents me from using that Snap Window feature on those windows. I would want to create an Exclude rule which would block only those Chrome or Edge windows from being grouped based on the caption text of those windows, but would allow all other websites opened in Chrome or Edge to still automatically be grouped.

Thank you for considering this feature request.
