Calc and [Windows] Settings keep showing up in my Quicklaunch dock. How do I stop this?

The Windows Calculator and Windows Settings programs keep appearing in my Quicklaunch dock. I close them from the right click context menu and some period of time later they return.

This is undesirable behavior. I can't find a setting that's doing this or any reason for it. Suggestions how to stop it are welcome. Thanks.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Try disable "Show Application". Right click on the dock->Setting-> View-> Show Application.

Thanks

Turning off 'Show Application' seems to keep this from happening. But it keeps every application from showing; all I see is the Start Menu and Recycle bin icons.

I am not sure this is ObjectDock's problem. ObjectDock may simply have hung a lantern on it. Just now, I started Task Manager and discovered an instance of Calculator was running even though I never started it. There seem to be accounts of this happening to people going back as far as 2007 and previous versions of Windows, but not many of them. The supposed experts from Microsoft who reply do not appear to understand how to fix it.

I also see some strange apps that I don't run appear in there when I switched "Show application" on. Currently on my system. I see "Settings" and Application Frame Host" icons show up but I did not open Settings and what ever causing Application Frame Host to show up.

To be sure, I have forwarded this problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.

Hi,

Has there beeny any update on this? I am having this problem. Using ObjectDock version 3.01 on Windows 10 Pro. I don't mind Settings showing up occasionally but the calculator app is becoming a little annoying.

Thanks!

I still experience this. A piece of windows that is called "runtime broker" in the Task Manager window may be responsible, but why it keeps launching calc is a mystery to me. Particularly since the 'calc' that shows up in my Quicklaunch Dock does not appear to actually work. Regular calc does and I can launch it from a Tabbed Dock. Shows up the same in Task Manager. Anti-virus software does not complain about it. It's possible calc does more (for Microsoft) than merely offer math services; who can say except conspiracy theorists like me? :)

Is there anything on this? It remains an annoying problem. Don't start programs "automatically". If I want a program to run, I know how to do that, thanks! :D

I recently installed and bought ObjectDock. I got the same problem with Calc and Windows Settings mysteriously starting and showing up in the dock. Even after closing the programs through the Task Manager they show up again after a while.

Any help for this?

This seems to no longer be a problem for me, despite the fact that I have not installed any kind of update to ObjectDock. I have installed Windows updates at one time or another. I wonder if the problem, at least my version of it, was a Microsoft issue?

Whenever something, even something apparently innocuous like a calculator, keeps restarting I can't help but wonder what it's really there for. Because there is no reason a simple calculator needs to run except when called on. Just paranoid, I guess. ;)
