Extend classic subscription

So, I have a classic subscription which expires in 6 months. I clicked on extend button and it shows me the option to buy but then it says next renewal will be done on 25 March 2025. My questions are:

1. Why it wants to renew on March 2025 instead of adding the remaining 6 months to my subscription? The next renewal should be Aug 2025.

2. Why is it changing my subscription from classic to automatic annual renewal subscription? Based on my understanding in reading this FAQ (https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1496285185/What+is+an+Object+Desktop+%26+Subscription+Software#What-is-'Object-Desktop-Classic') users who already have classic subscription will continue to keep it and the automatic annual renewal subscription applies only to NEW users.

3. If I extend my subscription, then will I be able to continue to use the software products even if my subscription lapses?

Please advise.

Thanks.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues.

  1. I think there is an error there. It should just add another year to your expiry date. However, to be sure, I have forward your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.
  2. Your subscription should still be classic subscription, it just automatic annual renewal will be applied. I believe you can always opt out.
  3. Yes, it still should work for Classic Subscription user. as mentioned in there.

Thanks

For the date questions that needs to be resolved via a ticket.  Please follow this to create one:

These points in that support article address that directly.  If it is somehow unclear (please tell me if so), I need to edit it.

Thanks Sean. I will open a ticket. But, I did not fully understand your comment. So, are you confirming that if an existing user who has a classic subscription can extend the subscription but that it will be an automatic renewal in the following year and the terms of classic subscription would still be valid with respect to using the products i.e., I can use the products even if my subscription expires/lapses?

Thanks.

The absolute only difference between how a Classic Object Desktop sub works now versus the past is how it's billed - full stop.  How if functioned in the past, that if it had lapsed, the version of the Software you had will still function and activate as it always did.  As in the past, what it will not do is activate new major versions of the software.  For example.

Your Classic Sub (CS) expired 12/30/2023.  Fences 4, that was an active version of Fences when your sub was active will function and activate until the sun explodes.  Fences 17, however, will not.  If you renew your CS, Fences 17 will then activate.  If you let your CS lapse yet again, Fences 17 will activate until the heat death of the universe.  What you will not be able to activate is Fences 18 unless you yet again renew your CS..

I am disappointed that Fences 4 will not work once the sun explodes. This was not clear in the ula agreement. I mean if we do end up being able to colonize another solar system what is the point of life if we cant run Fences 4?
