Can't change icon in quicklaunch dock

no items shown

Hi,

I just updated my objectdock and it works fine - took all the items from my old installation, including custom icons, and shows all as expected.

But then I created a new quicklauch doc, put a few links to pdfs in there and now wanted to change the icon to make them more recognizable. I right-click on the icon, select Settings, then Customize this icon and get a window with the title (choose icon (name of pdf).

In the left pane I see folders like 'Bundled Images', Docklets, etc, but when I select on of those, no icons show in the pane on the right that I might select. The folders are correct and contain a big number of .ico and .png files, but none of them is shown and so I can't select one and have to cancel out of this dialog.

If you could please fix this and while you are at it, add something like windows shows pdf files as a little image that's embedded in the pdf.

Cheers,
Gunter

Click the down arrow in the dialog and select "Browse for an Icon..." or click the link at the bottom "Find more icons on WinCustomize.com"

Hi, thank you - I was able to set an icon by browsing for one as per the suggestion - yet I still hope that the problem will be fixed with the right pane not being populated by the icons selected on the left pane.

I'm not quite sure why you're not seeing any icons in the right pane.

This is what I see:

I have even added the folder where I keep all my custom icons.

If you right click on Applications under Bundled images and select "Open," are there images in this folder?

If you right click on Misc. Icons under Bundled images and select "Open," are there images in this folder?

Also what version of Windows are you running? (use winver.exe)

Hi,

yes, this is what I was used to before I upgraded to version 3.
I tried to find a way to insert my own screen shot but don't see the option, so I describe it:

I select Bundled Images on the left pane - right pane empty (it actually displays the text 'empty' at the top center of the pane.

I right-clock and select open and it opens a new window with all my icons.

Gunter

Your issue also happened to my system too. But, I manage to resolved it by doing the purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

Hi,

yes, that fixed the problem.

One little thing remaining: I have one folder "More Icons" in the OD program folder that contains lots of .ico files and they automatically showed up. But there is one sub-folder "other" that contains .png files and this "other' folder does not show the icons it contains. I can search for one of those png icons and they are correctly assigned to a Dock item. Is there a specific type of png?

Cheers,
Gunter

Not sure if there is specific type of png file but png do appear on my listing. Refer screenshot below. Do note that sometimes you will need to restart OD3 to let the files load properly. Also copy those folder and put under Bundled image folder. C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\ObjectDock\Bundled Images

figured it out  :-)
my .png were too big - when I reduced them to 256x256 they showed up nicely.
