Prestige Victories seem to come fast?

Is it just me? 

First game I played, another empire came really close before I'd explored half available sectors, and I ended up rushing a prestige victory to win. Second, I got distracted by a war and another empire got a prestige victory. Both games were under 200 turns.

I like prestige victories but it feels like I need to disable them to get the full benefit of playing on larger maps with lots of opponents.

Prestige is fast it has been that way from the beginning and has been complained about just as long.

Most players just deselect Prestige unless that is the victory they are looking for.

Believe it or not, Prestige victories were even faster in the base game on Epic, before Supernova. Complaints were numerous and one of the devs did a pass to slow it down. I'm not sure whether Supernova changed it.

yeah I found a post about that I think. 

I'm not sure what the ideal is but it does seem like larger maps should mean slower prestige progress at least. Also in general might prestige be impacted by how many other civs even know you exist? In the first game, I never found out who the civ that almost won was.
