Tab Group Jumps to different screen

Tab Group jumps to monitor where windows is dragged from

Hi There, I have a QOL improvement which could be considered a bug in Groupy 2 (I'm currently using the trial). When dragging a window into an established Tab Group, say a window from the right most monitor, into a group on the left most monitor, the window will be added to the group, however the group will jump to the window where the dragged application originated. This is rather jarring.

My expectation would be that an established group would act like an anchor and any item added to the group, would be added, and the group remain positioned where it is, regardless of where (which monitor) the added item was added from.

Currently on Windows 10, Version 22H2, Build 19045.4046

Thank you

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Look I can not reproduce your issue on my system. But, I am on Groupy 2.15 (Beta not yet available for trial) or also maybe I am grouping thing differently from yours. Please post a video showing this issue so that I can try to reproduce it on my system. I am on Win 10 V22H2 OS Build 19045.4170.

Thanks

Hi Basj, Thank you for following up,

I'm not sure if you're suggesting you could or could not replicate the issue, but I've setup a few screenshots indicating the issue. Pictured in the screenshot are two monitors (same size, 1920x1080). On the left is a simple group, on the right is a new application (edge) which I will drag from the right monitor to the left monitor. The end result is the browser is added to the group, but the group moves from the left monitor to the right.

I hope this better illustrates the issue and that it can be fixed.

I should also note, I think if a Groupy group is full screen, when an application is added to the group, the app should go full screen, the group shouldn't be resized.

Thank you

I am sorry, I meant I can not reproduce your issue on my system. Refer my video below. Try look at it and see if there is a specific step that I can try to reproduce your issue on my system.

Hi Basj,

Thank you for the video. I think the only thing you can do to reproduce the action is make the "grouped" application full screen. For example open a web browser full screen (maximized) vs resized/partial, then drag another app into that maximized group.

If the windows are not full screen, then it works the same as your video.

Perhaps it is a version issue and I just need to wait for the next beta.

I still can not reproduce with full screen application. What I did was open up maximized Vivaldi browser on one monitor. I opened Windows explorer. Maximized. Drag the Windows explorer by click and drag it titlebar. Drag it over to the next monitor. Press ctrl key on my monitor release the mouse key when the "insert into group" tab appear. The group work. And I click those two tabs and it does not shift between monitor for me.

Thank you,

Thank you again Basj,

I played with some of the settings in the "Grouping Settings" option (sub option) Manual grouping by drag and drop and checked "use the entire window as a drag and drop target". This seemed to fix the issue when I drop a single window into the group (at least initially), but I am able to still reproduce the issue.

I added screenshots of my configuration to the album link: https://photos.app.goo.gl/22KckQCnGbZeNBuo6

Thanks again
