Unable to translate "Recent documents" in start menu

Is the PC language set to English or something else?

Sean Drohan
Stardock Product Lifecycle Manager

there are no "Recent documents" in all language files for example in Polish translation should be "Recent documents"="Ostatnie dokumenty", in english should be "Recent documents"="Recent documents" etc.

Thanks for the bug report.  We have resolved this for the next update.

We have also resolved combined taskbar buttons in Win10 style merging their bottom bars in combine mode.

Adding the string "Recent documents" does not solve the translation problem, it looks like the phrase "Recent documents" is set to "rigid" in files, the problem is from the beginning of Start11 v2.

You seem to still have some files from 2.0.6.1 installed.  Uninstall start11, reboot and then install the 2.0.6.2 version.

Is this to allow the use of other right-click menu apps like Nilesoft Shell we'd mentioned briefly before? I copied/pasted this from the beginning of this thread:

  • Added string registry key to use Win32 menus on right click on the taskbar to allow third party extension of the menu. Use HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Start8\Start8.ini\Start8    S11_UseOldRightClickMenus = 1

I can't find that in the registry anywhere. Can someone please tell me how to implement this? There are spaces in key which I suppose aren't supposed to be there.

Thanks,

P.S. I'd asked earlier and am still looking for a response but why might my start menu be opening on the last page instead of the first like usual?

You'll have to create the new String "S11_UseOldRightClickMenus" and then set the value to 1. You will probably have to reboot for this to take effect.

Quoting trparky,

Quoting sdrohan,

Tweaked Start11 autohide mode to no longer reserve any space at the bottom of the screen.  This does mean the very bottom pixel of a maximized app isn't clickable, but this shouldn't be an issue as click targets should never be so small.

This broke bringing the taskbar up from autohide when Microsoft Edge is maximized. This doesn't seem to be an issue with any other window but Microsoft Edge. It could also be a problem with other Chrome-like browsers, but I didn't test.

I've gone back to version 2.05 for the meantime until this issue is fixed.

I just checked here and cannot reproduce this.  MS edge and Chrome both work just fine when it is maximized.

You are not using F11 fullscreen mode are you?

FWIW, I get a similar problem using Firefox (Floorp specifically). When my browser is maximized, I cannot pull up the taskbar when hidden with auto-hide using the mouse cursor at the bottom of the screen. When I hit the Windows key, it begins to behave as expected until the next time I restart or maximize my browser.

Start11 v2.06 Beta (Steam)

Windows 11 23H2

Latest version of Floorp.

NOTE: This was NOT an issue with Start11 v2.05.

NOTE: This was NOT an issue with Start11 v2.05.

I would recommend enabling the option in Start11 2.0.6.2 which reserves one pixel space which will work as it did in 2.05

Unfortunately we cannot reproduce this here which almost certainly means some other thing is interacting with this.

Added option for autohide to reserve 1 pixel of screen space if people encounter issues
This fixes the issue that I talked about that was introduced in the first beta version of 2.06.

Unfortunately, 2.0.6.2 is not available on Steam at the time of this post. When that changes I'll be sure to try the update!

There is a feature in Start11v2 that allows you to set a specific page of the Start menu to open for a specific Desktop or Virtual Desktop. My guess is that you set the last page to open with your current Desktop. Open your menu to the first page and right click somewhere on the Start menu and select "Open menu on this page for current desktop."

Hi all,

When using start11 taskbar setting "Start11 autohide mode" the desktop icons get very small (about the size of the icons in the system tray). When disabling autohide and enabling windows 11 taskbar autohide, the taskbar icons size reverts from large to medium.

So: Either have start11 autohide on and get large taskbar icons (if set to large) but very small desktop icons, or disable start11 autohide and use windows autohide, and then get normal desktop icons, but medium size taskbar icons (even when set to large).

Not a huge problem, but it would be nice if it got solved.
