Inconsistent start menu background on Windows 10 with a multi-monitor configuration.

I've noticed inconsistent start menu background image behavior on Windows 10 in my multiple monitor setup with windows multi monitor taskbar enabled and Start11v2.

If I apply a settings change, then open the start menu on the main display, I see the background correctly.  If I then open the menu on the second monitor (where the background also shows correctly) then open it on the main display again, the background image isn't displayed.

Changing and applying a setting, then opening the start menu on the main display again will restore the background, but as soon as I open the start menu on the second monitor, the background disappears from the main display start menu again.

Interestingly, the "Use a custom menu background" option appears to reset to off every time I close and re-open the Start11 settings.  it doesn't seem to matter which start menu style I choose either.

I've tried this on a dual monitor Windows 11 machine and didn't have this problem.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need more information on your system.

  1. Windows full version number. Use Winver.exe to get it.
  2. Start11 version number.
  3. Post screenshots or video on those changing Startpanel background.

Thanks

Thanks for the video. I tried and check your issue on my dual monitor Windows 11 VM system and I also don't see the issue on it. Would like to suggest, first, uninstall Start11, reboot immediately after uninstall finished. Re-download latest version available on your product account page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products. Install it, reboot immediately again. Retest it and report back.

Thank you,

Hi basj,

As I said above, this is an issue with Windows 10, not Windows 11 and indeed I was unable to reproduce it on Windows 11 as well.

That said, I followed you're instructions, uninstalling Start11v2, rebooting and reinstalling from a fresh download with the same behavior occuring afterwards.

Well I also tested it on my main Windows 10 box and I don't see on this one too. I am on Dual monitor, 4K monitor another one is at 1920x1200 monitor. Both on 100% scale. I wonder if the issue involve with Windows scaling. What is your monitors resolution and scaling factors?

Thank you,

The main screen (the one in the video) is 3840x2160 with a 250% scale.

The secondary screen is 2560x1600 with a 150% scale.

We have reproduced the problem and it is indeed related to scaling factor changes.

Hopefully this will be addressed in the next update, thanks for letting us know.
