Deskscapes 11 crashes when browsing installed themes

I have Deskscapes 11 installed on Windows 11 Pro Version 22H2 OS build 22621.3007. Whenever I startup the application and click the Installed option, I start to browse those installed themes, and after scrolling down a bit, the app crashes. I've uploaded a dump file created by windbg to

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Is it possible that one of the installed themes is corrupt and causing Deskscapes crash?

Thanks

Thanks for your quick response. I do have a large number of themes installed on this desktop PC, is there any easy way of checking the validity of each theme. I also have Deskscapes v11 installed on a laptop, also running Windows 11 Pro. I believe that this has the same themes installed, and this has not caused any crashes at all on the laptop. Since I'm confident that everything is good on the laptop, is there any way that I could copy the themes from the laptop to the desktop?

What you could do, I think, you can browse this folder.

  1. C:\Users\(username)\Documents\Stardock\Dreams

Back up those files in there. Delete it all off. Close DeskScape if it still open. Restart Deskscape, check if the default dreams that come with DeskScape, should still be there, showing freezing issue. If not, you can start copy over dreams into that folder again. And see if any of it work. Might be it just corrupted "deskscapes.db" file.

Thank you,

Hi Basj

Thanks for your help. I think I've found the culprit... I think the problem was being caused by Riva Tuner or MSI Afterburner. I had both these apps starting at windows startup on the desktop, but not on the PC. Since stopping these two tasks on the desktop, I haven't seen any crashes since.

Cheers

David
