Stardock Releases "Tales of Centauron" for Galactic Civilizations IV

Tales of Centauron: A new story-driven DLC expanding the lore of Galactic Civilizations IV

Stardock released "Tales of Centauron", the eagerly awaited DLC for Galactic Civilizations IV today. Set in the game’s Centauron quadrant of the Milky Way galaxy this DLC introduces an array of new content:

  • Lore-Driven Gameplay: Players can delve into events tailored to the unique traits of each civilization. Engaging in these scenarios while leading a specific civilization unlocks a wealth of civilization-specific technologies, planetary upgrades, and starship components. This feature accentuates the distinctiveness of each species, offering a deeper and more personalized gaming experience.
  • New Campaign Mission - Return of the Korath: This gripping mission places players at the helm of the Korath Clan. Known for their extreme ideologies, even among the infamous Drengin Empire, the Korath represent a darker, more ruthless aspect of galactic politics and power struggles.

"In the Galactic Civilizations universe, the Drengin Empire are akin to PG-rated villains. The Korath, however, are on another level of malevolence. Their gameplay would probably get someone demonitized," explains Brad Wardell, Creative Director at Stardock. "Through the Korath, we aim to explore the darker paths a civilization might tread, paths they believe are justifiable."

  • Exclusive New Content: The DLC also brings a plethora of unique features, including new executive orders, artifacts, and ship components, enriching the overall gameplay and strategic options.

It would be nice if the game had some indicator that the new DLC was active.  Steam says it's in my library and I have the "return of the Korath" campaign, but other than that I don't see anything saying it was down loaded or if there's a way to undo the DLC content if we wanted to.  If you go into "properties/DLC" on the Steam page, and unclick a DLC will that remove the DLC content, or would you have to unistall the game and reinstall with the DLC unchecked?

I just moved from EPIC to Steam and bought the pass on steam.

It shows a bunch of items checked that are not due out until next year as well as Centurion. The only download it showed for sure was the 5-6gb of music.

I'm also not sure how to tell if the Centurion DLC is 'downloaded and active'?

I wish I could give you an answer. I also bought the expansion pass, it's also in my library, but Tales of Centauron doesn't show up in my available missions.

Okay, I opened the game launcher, clicked on Settings and then Validate. When that finished I rebooted my PC and now I can see the Return of the Korath mission.

thanks everyone I see the mission

I wish I could tell which missions were from this DLC. I suggest that in future DLC, the DLC content is somehow labeled or given unique icons, etc.

I have not played the mission.

As to the rest, it lacks self promotion. I took a break for a couple weeks playing because of the GPU performance issues having a pending fix coming (does not seem to have happened). When I started up after the 2.2 release I also moved from EPIC to Steam and bought the expansion pass. I'm not sure what changes are from the DLC and what was 'free' with the 2.2 release. Oh, I also stopped using the Insiders Edition.

I normally play custom civs, but I'm not sure the DLC has story for them. I tried a few games with base civs and picked up the 'you won with race X' badges (badges/achievements never worked for me with supernova on epic IE, so that's neat), but I did not see any in-depth story lines while playing any of them.

So I'm not sure what was added and would wait for the GPU issue to be fixed, so larger/bigger/longer games become time feasible to play. It could be things don't kick in on smaller maps/shorter games.

Hi!  I hope that this is an appropriate place to ask this question, so apologies in advance if it isn't.  I'm wondering whether the Expansion Pass will continue to be available once Warlords is released, or whether instead it is a limited promotion available only in advance of Warlords.

Hello! That's a fair question. To my understanding, the expansion pass will continue to be available; however, I believe the discount will decrease as it has been noted to be a limited time promotional discount.

In case you or anyone would want to know this, the Epic Games Store version does *not* indicate the $39.99 price as a discount, although the slightly higher price on Steam does show as a discount (but that is indistinguishable from the standard slashed-price notation for their bundles anyway), but *NOT* as a limited-time discount. It lacks an end-date or even a "limited time" notice.  But I appreciate your having replied here with the indication of Stardock's intention of a possible future price increase.
