Groupy 2 automatic grouping in KiCad resizes windows

In KiCad 7, automatic grouping changes the size of the windows from enlarged to reduced to a new size. The expected behavior is to have all windows maximized like the first tab, but this does not happen.

Reproduce the issue:

Install the latest stable version of KiCad from https://www.kicad.org/download/

Set automatic grouping for KiCad.exe

Open KiCad and create a new project from template with ctrl+t

Select any template and save the project where desired

Maximize the window and open the *.KiCad_pcb and *KiCad_sch files from the file tree on the left.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. I tested, and I believe if you set the tabs always show up even when only have one tab for Kicad.

Thanks

I tried but the problem persists. When I open the files in the project, the new windows are resized to a smaller size.

I tested again on my Win11 system, and I see the same result with my Win10 system. I made a short video showing what I see as I gone through the steps you mentioned above.

Thank you,

Maybe your pcb, layout, etc are more complex than mine. So the loading taking sometimes. So our result might different. However, I have forward your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.

Looking at your video again, are you also on Windowblinds or Stardock Curtains? Or any altering Windows frame software? Your min, max, close buttons look different than normal windows buttons.

No, I don't use Windowblinds or Stardock Curtains. I also tried to do a clean test by closing all running processes (except for the ESET antivirus) with killemall, closing all running services in Windows, and removing all Groupy settings from the registry, thus returning to factory settings, and the problem still occurs. I also found that the problem only occurs when selecting the "Integrate the Tabs" option; selecting "Place tabs above" as in your video works correctly, which is why you couldn't reproduce the problem. basj, it's a third-party Windows theme, but I also tried with the default Windows 11 theme without success.

Please look at the arrows on video from 0:04 to 0:10 seconds.

Arrows show the explorer's top border position before and after auto grouping. Look at the top of the explorer window.

I think there is a problem when Groupy tries to group a new opened window with another minimized window.

Arrows position

But, those are not "Maximized Windows". OP issue is on Maximized Windows. How that is related to your situation?

I don't know.

Could you please fix my issue? I don' want to resize explorer windows every time it resized itself.

I downloaded and installed the latest version of Groupy but the resizing issue persists.

By latest do you mean 2.15 beta?

No, the latest version available here https://www.stardock.com/products/groupy/history

The issue seems to have been resolved with version 2.15 for the main windows, but it is still present for the 3D viewer. To reproduce, open the PCB editor with any project, go to View>3D Viewer, the window resizes as described earlier before the fix.
