Cannot delete group

This has been resolved and was never really an issue. User error (aka user stupidity) was involved.

I have installed Start11 2.03 on a Surface Pro 6 (Win 22H2). Icons can be moved freely, but there was an extraneous Pinned group above the primary Pinned group. 

  1. I cannot delete this group at the top.
  2. Then I created a new tab and tested the ability to move icons in and out of the top line. No problem.
  3. The extraneous group still cannot be deleted.

This computer was reset this morning, saving no user files, so it's essentially a clean, new Windows installation.

I have a quick question. Was the issue with being unable to move icons in the top group or row resolved with this "reset" on this computer? Is this a different computer than the one with "top row" issue?

No. I created a separate ticket for this issue because the problem with the top row still exists on the primary computer, but has not shown up on the tablet.

So, as for the "unable to move icons on the first row" issue, something is not the same on the Surface pro 6 as your primary computer. Any ideas what could be different? Are they both Touch enabled?

Primary computer is not touch-enabled.

Many apps that run on the main computer are usually on the tablet, but not all have yet been restored. If I see the problem on the tablet, I'll update this ticket.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Just wondering. Please try this, back up your setting, once that is saved. Click on the Reset settings. Restart explorer. Don't restore setting yet, just as a test create a new group. And try delete the top group. Does the issue still there?

You can do the Restore setting after the test is done. Was thinking it might have something to do with corrupt setting files.

That didn't change anything, but the problem is solved. This was a standard PEBKAC (or ID10T) error. I was looking for a hover action to delete the group and it's a right-click that reveals the option. I have created and deleted a group and all worked as expected.

It wasn't a problem. Just an idiot user error. I was thought I remembered the delete option showing when the mouse was hovered over the item. Instead, delete is in the context menu (right-click).

So, now that the empty group has be deleted, did the "unable to move icons on the first row" issue recur on the Surface Pro 6?

Operation remains normal on the tablet so far. The problem with the first line persists on the main computer.
