Subscription

Hey Stardock,

I was already to upgrade to Object Desktop until I read the terms. I realize as a business you need to generate revenue. I could understand no support and updates after 0ne year but having the software stop - for just an individual user sorry not my cup of tea.

Please reconsider your position for individual users.

Thanks Joe

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, I believe this is already implemented and I am not sure if Stardock will changed it for you. Only thing is if you have ever Subscribed to Object Desktop before May 2023. Then the Classic Subscription model might apply.

Thanks

As @basj points out, if you're existing Object Desktop Classic customer - even if your Object Desktop Classic is currently expired - the subscription model may not affect you as much as you think it might.

If you're an existing Object Desktop Classic customer, and you opt for an "upgrade" which moves you to the subscription model, you can cancel that subscription before the yearly renewal and still use the software that has already been installed.  It will continue to function, even if the subscription is cancelled.  You can also continue to reinstall and activate the software in the future as well, so long as you downloaded the installers prior to the cancellation of your subscription.

Here is a short list of specific posts to read to get you up to speed of what the changes are and how they might affect you:

Does this mean that Fences 5 falls into the classic OD subscription model as well for those under the classic model?

The language certainly implies it that will if so I will definitely be renewing

Just to clarify I currently do not use Object Desktop,  this would be a NEW subscription. Which means after one year if I do not renew the software will stop.  As I stated SaaS for home uses to me is a non-starter.

On other hand I have been a longtime user of fences and have purchased several updates along the way.
