I just upgraded to Start11 2.0 Beta 1 on Windows 10 22H2.

I've noticed an issue with jump lists.

The "Recent" and "Pinned" sections do not appear in the jump lists.

Here is Remote Desktop Connection's jump list in Start11 v2:

Here is the same jump list in the default Windows Start Menu:

The behavior is the same in both the "Windows 7 style" and the "Modern style".

I did notice that other jump list sections seem to appear, but the icons aren't correct.

For example, here's Outlook's jump list in Start11 v2:

And in the default Start Menu:

I just purchased v2.
Will it appear in My Downloads?

Also. Can I install v2 over the top of v1?

In version 2 of Start 11:

  1. If I selected Modern Style -- Universal Applications access is denied.
  2. In Windows Pro Style, right click on a pinned program does not have an option to run as Administrator.

If you have v1 installed, v2 will replace it.  Also, it will appear in your downloads once you activate it for the first time.

Thanks for that. |-)

I don't have anything else managing my taskbar buttons, so why am I seeing this message?

I seem to be having an issue with start11 v2 power button menu. It seems to open on a different screen when pressed. I have a 3 monitor setup and the far right 2 monitors open on the wrong screen but the far left one is fine.

I fresh installed this application so I know that is not an issue. Hopefully this gets looked into.

I had seen this issue once but could not reproduce it.  If you reboot do you still see it?  If you do, but you close \ reopen the Start11 config, do you still see it?  If you still see it, and you restart WinExp, do you still see it?

Thanks for the feedback, ProtocolX.

I have the same problem. I have rebooted, restarted explorer etc.. I also have a problem with the icons filling with a black bg. This issue was present in v1 as well red squares in image below. apparently it occurs when the DPI is changed.

EDIT:

I also noticed that going from Win10 style to the new styles messes up the groups. I have some missing groups and pages and various icons not only end up in the wrong group but some icons appear 3 or more times.

It has changed since a reboot.
It's now saying, "Let Start11 enhance the taskbar" instead of "Let Start11 manage the taskbar buttons".
There is also a different message in red, a "Restart explorer" button, and an On/Off toggle switch.

My right sub-menus display "< Access denied >" with a two digit number tooltip.
The left sub-menus are mostly blank.

I'm using Modern Style with icons, but it doesn't seem to matter which style I use.

Same issue with "<Access denied>" popup shown for any "Display as menu" (Control Panel, Univ apps, etc.) item in the quick access shortcuts list. Not seeing any [count] tooltip. "Feels" like a "Run as Admin" (not as Admin) issue...

Running Start11v2 BETA 1 on a WIn11 Enterprise PC. Have rebooted since install (updating from latest previously-released Start11), S11v2B1 activated.

Is this to the left of "Shut down" meant to be there?

I think that "icon" next to the "power button" only shows up in you have an "show icon" option. I turned it on, thought it looked ugly (small useless icon) and turned if back off.

I found the setting in Start Menu > Configure Menu (Configuration).

I'm sure they can improve on that icon. |-)

Just bought the Upgrade, also get "access denied".

It seems the Start11 app process is not started as System/Admin, maybe that's why we get "denied"?

This usually means the config was started up before explorer which probably means on first reboot after install.  I think something was changed in the installers causing this.

Just close and reopen the config and it should be working then.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. I can't produce your issue on my system. Need more information on your system.

  1. Windows full version numbers.
  2. Screen resolution and scale factors.
  3. What do you mean by DPI change?
  4. What unique on those black background icons? Its default icon for the application?
  5. Does explorer restart Explorer.exe resolved the issue.

Thanks

1. Ver 22621.2428

2. Screen1:  5120x2880 @200% DPI Screen2: 3840x2160 @200% DPI

3. DPI == Scale factor (i.e 200% or Dots Per Inch).

4. Just default "Pin to start 11" icon

5. No the only fix I can see is to set the dpi to 250% which is where it was at when the icon was pinned.

It would appear that pinning an icon and then switching to a smaller DPI causes it. Not sure if it does the same thing in reverse or not. I was thinking maybe there's an image cache that can be reset somewhere.

I can not reproduce your issue on my system. I installed Windows detective, change my screen scale to 250%, pin Windows detective,by click start button-> right click on pinned group empty area->new->pin file->browse to windows detective.exe-> select it. Change screen scale to 200%. Screenshot below is what I get. No black background.

Might be something else is causing it. Which trouble shooting steps has you tried?

  1. Unpin and pin again within Start11 V2?
  2. Try cleanboot to see  if anything else is causing conflict with Start11.

Added note: I wonder if you have HDR turn on in your system?

Thank you,

Minor typo on this screen:

Is there a way to hide the titles on groups. I never use titles and there's just so much wasted space.

Windows 10 Vers: 22H2  Dutch language

Start11 in "Win 7 style"

I just upgraded to Start11 v2 and have the same <Access Denied> problem. it happens also on:

Pictures, Music, Videos; Modern UI applications. Double click on it does nothing BUT Right Clicking on f.i. Videos shows a submenu in white where you can select "Open" and this works.

Annoying but "Right click" followed by "Open" is a workaround for the time being
