Tutorial or start direction?

Has anyone done a tutorial or written UI directions.  Just starting, but I find the UI so different that I am a bit lost.  For example trade seems to go 1-5 on a planet... what is happening there/what does that do (doesn't seem to be building anything).  How to build mines?  Defense upgrades... same...what is happening?  I'm not seeing any direction at all in the game, so maybe someone has done some directions outside the game?

Regarding trade routes, it's now fundamentally different and now works on an import/export system. You only get resources added to your economy if you can successfully import and export them from one planet to another. Basically, think of it as you're taxing the transaction between your worlds. You can pick which resources among your export list you get though, which is in the menu to the side of the market.
