Multiplicity 3.60 Release Feedback Thread

With the Multiplicity 3.60 release, we are creating this thread so that users can report any observed issues.

Obtaining the product

Object Desktop members can get the release from within Object Desktop Manager

Individual purchases (as well as Object Desktop Members) can also be obtained from your account page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products

For guest check-out purchase (no account), from this link: http://www.stardock.com/support/productkeyretrieval

Reporting an issue

Please include the following for anything found:

  • Exact Windows version \ build (winver.exe)

  • Detailed steps to recreate the issue seen

  • Screenshots and videos are very helpful.  Videos can be uploaded to a cloud drive service (GoogleDrive, DropBox, OneDrive, YouTube), with a shared link included in your post.  Images can be copied and pasted directly into a post.

  • If there are specific apps that the app does not work (well) with, please note what apps and their exact versions.  If any app is not common, a link to a trial version would be appreciated.

Thank you for your interest and any time you put into making Multiplicity a better product.

Known issues

While we appreciate all feedback, please remember that we offer no official support for beta \ preview \ developer channel versions of Windows. If you report issues while in any of those early release channels, you should not expect them to be addressed unless it still exists in a retail version of Windows.

  • In-app update checks from the 'About' tab in the MP config will likely fail.  We are looking into the cause but the workaround is to update from your account page.

Post-install, and if it's the 1st ever install, it should have guided you through the setup.  After, the 'icon' that opens the config is in the system tray:

In my usage, I need to launch the config menu frequently, so I solved it by creating a shortcut for Program Files (x86)\Stardock\Multiplicity\MultiplicityConfig.exe and putting it on the desktop. thank you.

This has shown me something we can change to address this.  I will fix it on Monday.

Thanks for the dialog, big4.

I'm running a licensed copy of Multiplicity 3.5.7 on a couple of Win 10 PCs.  This evening I got a popup alerting me to the availability of a Multiplicity update release. Both times I tried to download and install, it got to 9.95Mb of 10.02Mb and stalled.  I gave it half an hour each time, and then cancelled.  The Stardock and Multiplicity items I could see on Task Manager were just sitting there fat, dumb and happy with CPU usage 0.00.

Is this known behaviour, or am I just special?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. It might be server issue. Please try again later. Or you should be able to download directly from your account here: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products. Report back if you still have issue.

My primary PC is running Windows 10 and I was able to update it to version 3.6 Build 00105. My secondary PC is running Windows 11, and I can't seem to update it from 3.57 to 3.6. It goes through the process of updating but still reflects version 3.57 Build 00103 after updating and restarting. Any suggestions?

Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

Purging remediated the issue. Thanks again. The secondary PC is now reflecting the updated version.

Great, glad to know.

Thanks for your help/advice.  I just got the product to search again for updates and, of course, it found one. It appears to have worked, subject to a reboot (that I don't wish to do right now).

Earlier, I did try the link you included in your reply (https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products) but there was nothing there, which was somehow surprising. I'm not going to worry about it though.

Best wishes,

Brian

Not really an issue, just have 2 questions.

1.  Does this apply to the KVM Pro version as well?

2.  Is there any chance to have a fix for the black screen issue when the secondary is a laptop with dual graphics, and set to use the performance "card" rather than the onboard default graphics chip?

Version 3.60 is the current version for all variations of MP.

It's not always the case (it's rare in fact) that this needs to be done.  That also makes it difficult to account for - it being a moving target issue.

That said, we have not forgotten about it.

Hi,

This issue has existed prior to 3.6 but I was interested if 3.6 resolved it but has not.

Windows 10/11 have the emoji shortcut Windows Key + . (period)

For Windows 11 it has a search box, but a secondary device cannot type into the search box using Multiplicity.

Thanks

This is a limitation of that entry box.

For some reason it rejects all input not from a physical keyboard.

It would require a Microsoft bugfix.

It's unlikely an issue directly attributable to the version itself.  If you are still experiencing issues, please create a new thread providing as much information as possible (frequency, version of Windows for every MP PC, reproduction steps, etc).

I recently purchased Object Desktop which included mulitplicity Version 3.6.  I can get the Seamless to operate on 2 different secondary PCs but don't see a way to set up KVM connections so I can use the primary monitor.  Does this version of Multiplicity not include KVM functionality?

OD includes KM only.

Files and text copied from the second computer can be pasted to the first computer just fine.

However, conversely, no files or text from the first computer can be pasted to the second computer.

When copying files from the first computer to the second computer,

repeating pasting and moving, and the loading bar disappears and reappears.

Eventually, a situation arises where I have no choice but to turn it off by force. Of course, in the end, the file has not been moved.

In case of text

Open Notepad on the first computer, copy the text,

When pasted on a second computer, the notepad freezes with an hourglass symbol displayed. After about 5 seconds, the pause is lifted and only a blank screen is displayed without any text being pasted

This means the firewall on your first computer is blocking multiplicity from obtaining clipboard information.

Is the network set to public on that computer rather than work/private?
