Large massive map sizes and AI starting locations

Hi everyone, just starting playing Galciv 3 and am loving it however I notice when playing on even really huge maps, I could start in the corner and the AI players all surround me so I get boxed in and there is the rest of this massive map that goes un used.

Like my understanding of a large map is so I can play and see the ai much much later in the game. Is there a mod or something to make the ai start locations go to the other corners of the galaxy?

At the moment the largest map is only 9 sectors and the Far setting for AI distance is maybe one sector without AI but most likely at least on is going to be in the next sector. Until they develop a map editor this will likely not improve much.
