Groupy 2 consistently fails to launch saved groups

Having saved a Group, it does not launch when the Group icon is clicked. Three grouped apps:

  • Directory Opus - file manager (Directory Opus Pro 12.31 Build 8459 x64OS 10.0 (B:22621 P:2 T:1) SP 0.0)
  • Microsoft Edge (Version 114.0.1823.43 (Official build) (64-bit)) - 3 default tabs (2 x GMail accounts, Home page)
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader (v2023.001.20174 64 bit)

All are the latest app versions. I am running latest Windows 11 Home version 22H2 OS build 22621.1848 on a Microsoft Surface Pro 8.

When I click the Group icon to launch, I get the error message:

When I click ok, nothing happens. I do not get this error message launching MS Edge on its own.

I then created a new group with the same three apps, except I substituted Google Chrome for MS Edge. When I click on the icon to launch the group, only Google Chrome opens.

I then tried:

  • Steam and Firefox - only Firefox opens
  • Directory Opus + Steam - nothing opens
  • Acrobat Reader + Word 2019 - only Word opens

I think that there are some significant issues that remain to be fixed in Groupy 2.

Can you provide the .groupy file for the saved group as thats not normal behaviour.

Note that if steam is running in the tray already it may not open up when launched from another group.  This is due to being in the tray being an application thing not an OS one so there is no standard way to make it open.

Here is a link to all the Groupy files I have created.

Note that this same behaviour also occurs on a Windows 10 machine.

Thanks

Thanks, unfortunately those are lnk files not the .groupy files.

You can access those from the config and picking the browse saved groups button on the Grouping rules page.

Or by going to C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Groupy in explorer where <USERNAME> is your windows user name.

@swwoodland

Does Groupy 2 at all with Directory Opus Windows???

I had Groupy 1, and always had to manually group all the Directory Opus windows together.  And I finally gave up and uninstalled Groupy.
