Deskscapes freezes when it starts

I recently upgraded my hard drive.  So I have been reinstalling my software.  I uninstalled and reinstalled Deskscape and now when it comes up (after booting) the deskscape configuration screen comes up and freezes.  No button works, including the end program button (X button).  I have to bring up the task manager to end the program.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and nothing works.  I am downloading the program from My Account on the stardock website, so I know its a good copy.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know you on Windows 10 or 11? Also on Deskscapes version?

Thanks

Hello,

I am running Windows 10, with the latest patches (as far as I know).  I have Deskscapes 10.03.

I tested Deskscapes 10.03 on Windows 10 V22H2 (OS Build 19045.2913) and I did not found any issue.

Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

Thank you,

I followed the instructions and it didn't work.  The Deskscape Configuration screen still comes up and freezes.  There are a couple of issues I need to make you aware of.  1.  I install the program on my D drive.  The bat file looks for directories on my C drive.  So I had to change the bat file to look for directories on my D drive and I ran it again.  It looks like it deleted everything but a few files (see #2) I Installed the program and it still doesn't work.  Also, the bat file seems to end some services.  I noticed one of those services were still running.  A service called: "Stardock Deskscapes 10" is still running.  2.  the bat file did not delete a few files:

DS10srv.exe

SdDisplay.exe

deskscape.dll

SdAppServices.dll

Stardock.ApplicationServices.dll

It also did not delete the Deskscape directory.  When I try to delete these files manually I get a message telling me the files are still in use.

Please try this. Reinstall Deskscape 10 in your previous directory, reboot. Uninstall it again normally. Reboot again, Install Deskscape 10 in its default directory (C drive). Reboot and retest. Report back.

Thank you,

After reinstalling deskscape, I started the computer in safe mode. Then I started the program. It asked me for the license number, I clicked submit and now it works fine.

I will cross my fingers that it Continues to work.
