Is this artifacting? I’m getting black squares in the GPU benchmark

Is my GPU defective, or is this an issue with this game? This is only happening in this one game. I’m seeing black squares in Ashes of the Singularity that look like artifacting, but i watched several videos with different gpus that mostly had the same problem. Here’s one example from someone else since I’m getting 100% CPU usage even though I wasn’t with the 6950XT I returned due to this same issue: https://youtu.be/1gOCe4CVzI4&t=4m22s

i had issues with a 6950XT that I returned and I’m still having issues with a 6800XT. I’ve seen 5 out of 10 videos with this issue with people with 6000 series AMD GPUs, 4090s, NVIDIA 3000 series GPUs, and so on. It seems this part was only added in a recent update since older videos from more than a year ago don’t have this part at all. I’m seeing this with DX11, DX12, Vulkan, and all resolutions and presets.

That’s my bad, I thought these were 2 separate forums but it seems that they’re the same thing. I apologize for that. Can I post this thread in just one forum this time since they were both deleted? I apologize again for that.

I deleted only one...the one you typed in orange.

I can change where this post appears, if you wish. No need to apologize. Happens to the best of us.  ;)

I at least learned now that these are the same thing and all lol. Anyway, it’s fine as is to leave it here. Thanks though for the offer!

I would expect that's just the limits being reached by the GPU under stress ...a visible indication of how far it's being pushed.

Not a problem, just part of the process.  You can always find another Benchmarking 'proggy' and see if the same effect is visible...;)

It’s good to hear that’s normal then! I found about 15-20 videos of the benchmark, and this issue happened in more than 50% of them even to people with far better GPUs like even a 4090. It does appear to be normal then since other people are experiencing this same issue. Thanks!
