Some questions about modding

Was wondering a few things about modding.

Firstly, I read that you take protecting mods and their creators seriously.
Does that only apply when the mod is hosted/posted via the forum/workshop, or also when it is hosted on github?

(Kind of important since data mods can't be hosted yet in the workshop for galciv4, I think.)

Secondly, if so, is there a specific license I should include?

Thirdly, when this "galciv 4 next" or some other major update is released, how does this work for modded files?

Would I need to manually verify the differences, do they get overwritten or is the new stuff somehow merged in?

Thanks.

If its on your system you can mod it. If you post your mod on steam it's a free for all but steam has its own guidelines for that. If GalCiv releases new stuff --- > You may have to update your mod to accommodate for any changes they may have made. It's not on them to accommodate you.

Just my 2 cents

If you "post" a mod on Steam that uses material that is from another posters mod you "must" get permission from and credit the original poster.

You are free to use any posted Mod in your "private" games.

Example if you make and post a Star Trek mod that uses ships designed by Mr. Trek you must ask his permission and credit his work. If you make this mod for use on your own Computer and do not post it you are free to use it.

I created a small mod but it seems like i can't get it to work i actived Mods in the Game and i have this:

But nothing in the game changes the only way i can get it to work seems to be to override the original game files with my mod files ....

Any ideas ?

Also if i try to upload it it tells me:    "File is required to upload a new Mod."

Although i put it up in a Zip File and it showed it is uploaded...

Same thing happens when I try to upload mods too. I've tried different browsers, restarting my computer, I even tried uploading from my mobile. Nothing seems to work
