Stop Fences from Moving Desktop Icons?

Hello all, I recently bought Fences. I've been enjoying it so far, however I noticed a problem.

It is frequent that the resolution of my display changes (whether that be because a program adjusts it, or I am working with multiple monitors and windows has a minor freakout) Of course, this moves all of my icons, which usually isn't a problem. They will stay in their order and I can just select all of them and move them back to where they were.

Except now that I have Fences, my fences will get moved too. This wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that fences will automatically move desktop icons out of the way. Ruining the order. This means I have to basically reorganize my entire desktop whenever my icons get moved (which again, is a frequent occurrence)

Is there any setting to disable this?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. It is best to have all your icons inside a Fence so that Fence can manage them. If you have new icons coming to your desktop area, you can setup Fences rule to send all new icons coming into Desktop to be move into specific Fences where you can move whenever and wherever you like. To setup Fences rules refer screenshot below.

Once that is done, when needed, you can restore all your fences to its saved location by using the layout snapshot restore function.

I don't want my desktop icons in a fence it ruins its looks, also Stardock Start11 keeps promoting me with a File Download - Security Warning whenever I use Favourites in a Windows 7 classic start menu, having Favourites on the start menu was the only reason I bought it and it greatly effects my productivity as well as being completely annoying.

Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, what are your actual issues? And how does your issue related to this thread? If it is not, please create your own new thread and elaborate your issue in there so we can help you there.

Also, please post details on:

  1. You on Windows 10 or 11? We also need its full version and OS Build number. Please use Winver.exe.
  2. Fences full version number and your issue with it.
  3. Start11 full version number and your issue with it.
  4. Post screenshots of the issue would help us greatly to understand your issue better.
