more fun with google!

catalogs.google.com <- great for the holidays
froogle.google.com <- ditto
news.google.com <- news from many different sources
groups.google.com < newsgroups
labs.google.com <- things they are working on

search modifiers:
site:xxxxxxxx search only in that domain - eg shakespeare site:edu
inurl:xxxxxxxx searches for your search terms only in url, not rest of page

I get more impressed with google the more i research.

/me loves Google!

Only one problem lately, they now have pop-ups. More then one at a time sometimes. It's becoming enough for me that I might change it from being my home page.

the google toolbar stops popups even at google.com....

I would rather not have an extra toolbar. It's just a shame is all. I am hoping they will change it back though. I would prefer to have to sign up and pay a small fee instead of the pop-ups or having to use a special toolbar.

another popup stoping program also stops the popups. I didn't even know that google started putting pop ups because i use firebird which has built in popup blocking. It is a shame that they would do that to such a wonderful page.

Hmmm, I use Google all the time and I've not seen any pop-ups. Are you sure it's Google doing it?

same as that Fuzzy, no pop-ups for me either...I'm not running any kind of pop-up killing software

I thought it was something else at first, well hoping. Google was the only thing I had open at the time. I of course have seen it many time since. Strange that it happens to me and not others.

Try running Ad-aware. You might have something 'lurking' causing the pop-ups.
That's a great thought Fuzzy. I will give that a try and let you know. the only thing I know for sure is that it started about a week and a half ago.
Bummer, that did not work. I only had one thing in there "doubleclick". I was amazed, I have not used Ad-aware in months

Ok, now something is really weird. My son just said that he does not get pop-ups on his computer and that he went on my computer the other day to "a site he goes to all the time that does not have pop-ups" and on my computer it had pop-ups.
Any thoughts?

Keila....did you update Adaware before you did the check? They bought out a new build about a month ago which meant you had to uninstalll the old version and download the new one. Dont forget to run the update again when you get the new version to make sure the latest build is installed as well and then run it again. I bet that cures your problem

I will do that, thanks Leo the Lion.

Keila, you can also use the host files to block ads like that.

I have used them for years and never see pop-ups. I am also using MyIE2 which blocks popups. I understand that Avant does too. Both are very good, free, and have been recently updated.

Google is my best friend!! "google it!"

Popups, I haven't seen one since I've downloaded a copy of Mozilla. NEVER going back to IE (unless they update with a built in popup blocker and tab browsing!!)

The google toolbar also loads it's own spyware ....
Firebird beats Mozilla hands down.

Man I am sorry, I got really busy and forgot to get back to this.
Yes, Leo the Lion it worked. The newest version of Ad-aware found a whole bunch "31 if I remember correctly". I am not sure which one it was causing the problem but it is gone now.

Thanks you so much. I love Google again!

goodmorphing, yes I have often though of using one of the pop-up programs but have still yet to try one.
