Why do I have to pay $10 for the WindowBlinds 11 upgrade?

I bought WB10 in march of this year but now that windowblinds 11 is released (and i finally have a computer that supports windows 11) I want to upgrade but I don't want to pay $9.99 for the upgrade bundle.

Thanks

I'd also point out that Windowblinds 11 is a major version upgrade to Windowblinds in terms of the time devoted to development, especially involving a new operating system, very different from W10.

The relevant Stardock policy re upgrades:

"Incremental Product Releases

Incremental product releases that do not increase the version number, just the release level, typically contain minor enhancements and fixes. For example: an incremental release is release level 2.19 moving to level 2.20. These incremental releases are available free of charge to registered owners of the version level for which the release is applicable to and can be downloaded from their Stardock account.

New Version Product Releases

New version product releases will be designated by an increase in the top level release version number. For example, when product version 2.xx has a version upgrade the new version number would be 3.xx. New version product releases must be purchased. Discounted upgrade pricing may be available to owners of previous version levels."

When purchasing software from Stardock. Usually, the number on the end indicates what operating system you are buying for.

Software is always meant to only last as long as the operating system does and a new version will need to be purchased for a newly released OS.

I.E start 8 was the first start program but instead of being called start 1 it is called start 8. This means it is start for Windows 8.

Same thing with Windowblinds. Windowblinds 10 is for Windows 10. Windowblinds 11 is for Windows 11. And to run Windowblinds on Windows 12 you will need to purchase Windowblinds 12 in the future.

The rule remains the same for other programs such as fences that go by a different numbering system. Although they still get the traditional 1, 2, 3, or 4 version number they usually last as long as an OS lasts until a new version needs to be purchased

BUT,  buy an ObjectDesktop subscription and get past all this, a no-brainer to me.

Great advice, Red. It's a no brainer...and a great deal.
