Hippy made some tutorials on Deviantart somewhere... which are really good, Glass buttons and LCD screens.

read up on Layer Styles (blending options) and also lighting effects...

I've thought about this a bit and can not for the life of me see posting how to do it
when learning from scratch teaches a person so much more than just how to make a glass affect.

It is kind of like paying someone to build you a hot rod and then spending 10 hours on the side of the road wating for someone to stop and change your flat tire...

anyway...

there are a number of tutorials on the web, books in the store and even the books that come with the program when you open the box Adobe ships it to you in...

Um...okay I will try. Anyways anyone know how to make it so then if I make water it looks like its flat not just a random rectangle ?

place your water layer(s) above some sort of defining vanishing point of objects to show some depth and also on the top of the water show some breaking of it, ripples, wave action, blowing mist...

ok, here is a hint on learning some things by doing them...

Below is a list of a couple of Magazines you can pick up at Borders or at your better Magazine stand.

Photoshop
Computer Arts Projects
Design Graphics
EFX Art & Design

Those four magazines will be more than enough to give you some real hard line tutorial projects to work through. I would also suggest the Photoshop WOW book for the version of PS you have purchased. Also I would suggest you become a member at the Adobe Studio online so you can pick the minds of some of the developers, tech support and users from the beginers level all the way up to some of the highest paid individuals in the graphics industry.

But you really do have to do as much as you can as far as learning on your own to gain any respect because they are constantly seeing people who pop in for a bit and they spend time (which is at a personal premium, always) only to have the person kind of fade away and in time it leaves a person wondering why they even exert the effort...

Sitck with it, bang your head against the wall a bit and ask away, but thinnk about what you want to ask, how you need to ask it, and pay attention to what they are saying in and many instances what they are not saying. You'll get it just give yourself some time

This was mentioned before in a recent thread, about a week ago..... but a great book to go out and get is the "Photoshop Wow" book for the version you have on your system.
I have both Photoshop and the corresponding "Wow" book. Couldn't be without them.
Mine (the book) was $100 Australian new, but I got it in a second hand book shop for about $40.
Well worth the money, regardles of what it costs you.

Thats a main stay for me (the WOW books for most graphics applications, I picked up the one for Corel Painter by the way and it is just as great a tool as the Photoshop series) and anyone who additionally comments on such a thing (not because I like it, but anything really) only serves to reinforce the impression of the quality in it.

They seem to cut to the chase and teach you step by step through examplem though you could just as well click and go with the styles and such provided on the CD. It pays to walk through each example because you pick up so much when you break each thing down into a seperate step. Each part of a style can be used for something else along the way without a doubt.
