DeskScapes Videos Consume Bandwidth

Why do DeskScapes videos consume 80% of my internet bandwidth?

I'm not sure why this is occurring, but it took me a while to chase it down.  Whenever I run videos vs. static pictures on DeskScapes, my bandwidth drops by 80-90%.  Is the program truly that resource hungry that it sucks the life out of my NIC too?  Isn't the GPU enough?  I'd like to know why this is actually happening...

Being new to DeskScapes, I was simply running the videos offered from the platform....nothing I've created myself.  I currently run Windows 10 Pro, 10,  build 19044.  I was using the latest beta release of DeskScape.  Since this morning, I've uninstalled all apps associated with it.  In the future, I'd like to try it again, but for now, I don't need the frustration.  This was a huge learning experience for me chasing down and identifying the cause of my issue.  I even replaced my network switch thinking it was something there, ordered new NICs, cables, etc.....$$$ wasted, of course.  Who knew?

I don't understand why running a dream would use ANY bandwidth, other than when downloading it.

AV and/or anti malware programs, some other firewall than the one that come with Windows, VPN etc. are more likely suspects to cause something like this.

I suspected the same and went through many hours of trial/error.  I finally narrowed it down to one Service that I could turn on/off before identifying it.  Once found it was the DeskScapes program, I then went into the program and toggled the different features until I narrowed it down to static pictures vs. motion/video that caused the issue...again simply by toggling on/off - it was obvious at that point.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. As asked by Mike (AzDude) above can you name any specific Dreams/Video that causing it on your system. So, we can try and reproduce it.

Thanks

I assume you are referring to Animated Backgrounds (Dreams) when you refer to "motion/video."

I am running Windows 10 Pro 19045.2075 and have been running DeskScapes 11 (ver. 10.96, 11 beta 5) for more than a year and have not experienced this issue. There is no reason DeskScapes 11 should be using an inordinate amount of Network resources. It is more likely that something with your system configuration is in conflict with DeskScapes 11 causing this issue.

Have you tried disabling everything except DeskScapes?

Use System Configuration and Selective Startup to disable all services except Microsoft services and Stardock DeskScapes 11. Also disable all but essential Startup items. Reboot and check your Network activity.

DeskScapes will not be using any bandwidth when playing a video.  It is all local.
