Suggested Change to the Header of Support Pages

Just a suggestion...

I have noticed that very frequently the first response to an inquiry requires asking for the Windows version and the Stardock software version.

You could add a phrase like "Please include the Windows version & build# along with the Stardock software version in all posts." at the top of the page by the "New Topic" button.

or/

You could add something like this as a header in the new post box where you type in your query.

The Support forum has this sticky post:

https://forums.wincustomize.com/512674/a-summary-of-how-to-request-support-with-useful-links

Unfortunately, most folks don't search and others probably don't know of the existence of the forum.

This is great, but most people, especially new visitors, never read this type of "sticky" post. Hence the issue I pointed out above.

You're suggesting a banner...and most don't read them either.

Heck, even if a "how to" were included with the software, it would go unread.

Like this maybe.

That's good if posting about a software problem so, this might serve as well or better?

"IF POSTING ABOUT A SOFTWARE PROBLEM, PLEASE NOTE YOUR WINDOWS VERSION, BUILD NUMBER AND SOFTWARE VERSION NUMBER!"

The colors are fine, the only fly in the ointment being Stardock's customer base is international and not everyone knows or prefers to post in English. Still, it's a good idea and I'll bring it up in admin forums.

Thanks for trying to help, pelaird. 👍

I actually think it's a good idea. Even if read only by a few.

It is a good idea but does have some caveats; one being that the 'New topic' button (and underlying action) is for all the forums - non-software ones as well.  That said, I'll think about it and see what I can come up with.

To be honest, it is my desire (goal) to get rid of the current forums altogether and move to a better product - a Reddit style (voting, threaded, etc) one is what I have in mind.  What cant be lost, however, is all the history from our current ones and that import process will be a challenge as well as not losing our search results from the likes of Google.

As always, thanks for the feedback.
