Wallpaper flashing during change

Deskscape 11 intermittently flashes the desktop wallpaper during the change.

This often happens after the computer has been inactive and puts the monitor in standby mode. Then, upon awakening, it appears that Deskscapes is trying to 'catch up' on wallpaper changes that were missed during standby.

This doesn't happen all of the time; only intermittently.

I have tried pausing Deskscapes and logging out. Neither fixes the problem. I have tried restarting explorer but that doesn't work either.

The only solution I've found is to restart the computer. Then Deskscapes works fine until the next occurrence.

I haven't found any clues as to what is causing this to happen.

This only happens with Deskscapes 11. I had no problems, of this nature, with Deskscapes 10.

Cheers.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having issues.

There is a report in for this .

Try Restarting Windows Explorer and that should fix the issue.

report back if that works for you .

Hi AzDude... That's one of the things that I tried to fix the issue. More often than not, it doesn't work.

Cheers.

This often happens after the computer has been inactive and puts the monitor in standby mode.

'Sleep' I assume you mean.  Try setting the power options in Windows 10 just turn the monitors off instead of a full sleep:

That is the way my computer is set up already.

Just to reiterate, this problem only shows up with Deskscapes 11. I never had this with Deslscapes 10, even on Windows 11.

I use Deskscapes 11 because the random wallpaper display function seems to work better.

Another thing that I have noticed is that, when the flickering starts, and I go to the Start 11/Taskbar settings to restart Windows Explorer, the wallpaper immediately changes, sometimes by a couple of images, before settling down.

As I've mentioned before, restarting Windows Explorer doesn't always fix this flickering. The flickering will usually restart at some random time later.

Cheers.

Waking a PC from sleep is a very chaotic process and that you see this is at entirely random \ and infrequent times makes it all the more difficult to diagnose or to discern that DS11 is at fault at all (setting issue, 3rd party app conflict (display fusion, video driver, etc).  That this did not happen with DS10 is somewhat irrelevant as they are different in vast ways.

What I might suggest is that you clean boot for a time to see if its reproducible under those conditions:

Again, to be clear, my computer does-not-sleep. Only my display is turned off.

The random flickering, while my computer is in use, seems to have no trigger. I can't point to an event that causes it.

Cheers.
