Custom Scaling %s in Windows makes Start11 not work properly

Help!

Hi,

I was loving my Windows 7 style menu but suddenly clicking the start button on my left monitor does nothing.

On the middle monitor it opens the menu seemingly below and on top of the left monitor's taskbar, and on the laptop itself the menu opens below and on top of the middle monitor's taskbar.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, restarting loads of times.

Can anyone please help?

Thanks very much.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know more on your system.

  1. You on Windows 10 or 11? And also need to know its full Windows version numbers. Use Winver.exe to get those numbers.
  2. You are using Start11 version 1.24?
  3. Do place your taskbar at the top?
  4. Do you use autohide taskbar?
  5. Do you turn on "Enhance Taskbar"?

Thanks

Hello

I am using Windows 11, Version 1.24, no, no, and no.

I did however apply a customised scaling option to try to fix the display issues I was having with Office365 apps and my monitor setup....

I've just taken it off and now Start11 is fine again.

Is there no way to have both working?

Thanks

Hello,

Really need to know if you're running Windows Insider or Beta build? What is your full version numbers please.

What is taken off? If Scaling, you mean Windows "Scale" at 100%? What was it when the issue happened?

And elaborate more on Office 365? Please give more details so we can understand it better.

Thank you,

I had the same, fixed it by setting scaling right also. Don't do own scaling factors like 110 % or similar. 125 works for me.

Oh, I don't know, did not change the scaling anymore. ;-)

Hi,

I have 2  large monitors connected to a laptop, so there are 3 screens in total. I would like to apply a Custom Scaling % of 110%.

100% is too small, and 125% is too big. These do seem to work fine with Start11 though.

the laptop screen is smaller than the 2 monitors and not having them all on the same scale gives me bigger problems... So I need a Custom Scale to uniformly apply.

Windows:

Edition Windows 11 Pro

Version 21H2

Installed on ‎01/‎07/‎2022

OS build 22000.778

Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22000.778.0

Pic of scaling option (in Settings, Display, Scale & layout, Scale, Customised Scaling):

When I apply 110% here, Start11 does not work properly, and I experience all the problems I described in my opening post.

The Office365 part is irrelevant to the problem.

@basj Can you please advise on how this can be sorted out?

Thanks

Is this still an issue with 1.25?

Can you confirm this still happens with 1.25?

It doesn't happen on my computer with 125%, if that's what you mean?

Is there a solution yet?

Thanks

Hang on - is that still a test version? I just tried to check for updates in Start11 and it said 1.24 is the latest version?

If it isn't a proper update, wouldn't I wan to wait until it is?

Any updates on this?  I just purchased Object Desktop mostly for Start11 but it makes the software completely unusable for me.  Thanks.

This was addressed in the 1.27 beta update of Start11 which is available in your account.

The underlying issue was a calculation bug in Windows 11, if you look closely you will see a 1 pixel gap under your taskbar when using some custom scaling factors.  This confused Start11.
