Different icons layout in the new upgrade

Before the last upgrade, the icons has a white square behind each one. After the upgrade, that white squares desappeared and all icons have  the same gray background and that white square behind each icon don't exist anymore. Is there anyway to recover that little white square?

And what version is it ?

What version of Windows you running ?

To add pictures to your posts, click the "+" sign in the toolbar to upload:


You will find the version number of Start 11 at the "About" screen after you open the configuration screen:



And to find your Windows version number, click "Run" (Win key + R) and type "winver" without the "

Isn't that a setting for the tiles layout? You could set the tile background and choose a colour? (no idea if that's only in start10?)

If you follow steps in reply#3 you can post your images right here in this thread.

Just make them big enough to see detail.

Make sure you have "Use Windows 11 menu style icons" turned off. (See below)

Then you can right click a tile and select a custom color for the background.
