Concerns

New user, having concerns about software

First and foremost, can we fix  that ugly search box?

1. I have a bug where the taskbar will not go away after turning it off even after restarting explorer both from within and outside the program, this plus the fact that there is a whole service for this program sketches me out.

What is the service used for, will there be an impact in performance?

2. I am EXTREMELY dissapointed in this programs lack of openness. In StartAllBack, I am able inject my own msstyles into the taskbar, granted that only goes so far but this is where I am concerned . I know you are  a paid closed source product (so is startallback), but I have no way to mess with and change the black box. I have a custom theme going on and if I knew where the items were, I could modify to fit the theme. Specifically the clock item for example. I want to make the clock on the taskbar red.

These 2 points here point at trust. I have no reason to trust you guys, I am not seeing any form of standard procedure. If I can get more info on what the service is used for and a fully customizable taskbar (or classnames so I can do it myself) then we have trust. Right now, this is literally against the spirit of customization, by closing it off andmaking life difficult. Im not asking for source code but just for you guys to not act like apple. Cuz we all know how *great* apple is for customizing... -_-

Real products can be CHANGED BY ME. How does a company who seems SO MUCH about customization not understand this.

But want a damn request, heres one. Make it so I CAN DISABLE the taskbar. IM not asking for compatibility with startallback. I JUST want to have control over my system.

I did attempt to answer this. Start 11 has to hook into something in order to work. It has 3 taskbars it can hook into which gives you 3 options. The Windows 10 taskbar, the Windows 11 taskbar and the in house Stardock created taskbar. For Start 11 to work with any other taskbar it would need to be programmed to hook into that software.

StartAllBack does not appear to work any differently. It also need to hook into a task bar and has the exact 3 options that start 11 has. This becomes apparent with the fact that the startallback start menu can not work on the start 11 taskbar. If you get mad squarely on start 11 for having the same exact behavior as startallback has then you will need to take off your blinders to see the whole picture.

sdRohan  You have been neither helpful nor understanding, what you have been doing

I disagree, from what I am seeing he is trying hard to not send you into exile. He definitely could have. Instead he is trying to steer you towards the right path.

If you and I were having this conversation alone or you were talking to your friends then the talk would be fine. However, we are on a public forum where kids could be present or other groups that expect a different code of conduct. This is why forums have rules.

I would like to thank Stardock Software for working tirelessly on providing their users with an alternative to the Start Menu and Taskbar on Windows 10 and 11. I have used a lot of different software over the last 30+ years and never have I seen a company that listens to and works so closely with its users in customer support!

I haven't seen anything like this thread on any of the Stardock forums since I became a member in 2018. It's totally inappropriate for the tone taken towards Stardock support and the foul language used. There is no place in this forum for either.

As with any software, it's use is optional. If you don't like how it works or it's developer, don't use it!

Please try to be considerate of the other users on this forum. Thank you.

pelaird ....thanks from all of us for the kind/positive words.

Unfortunately from time to time attitudes such as were expressed here do occur.  They aren't common, as most people understand that issues and bugs etc can happen when both Programs and the OS they are being designed for are at the 'cutting edge'.

Stardock tries to accommodate everyone's concerns but invariably there will be someone who is simply unreasonable in both attitude and responses.  In this case the outcome was inevitable...;)

Just woke up, here and came to check this thread. Just deserts for such abuse. Kudos to Sean for his patience.
