Game won't start "Don't have access"

Help please. I've tried validating, changing admin privileges and reinstalling. Just bought game and havn't gotten past this point.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

Please try whitelisting the game with any anti-virus software installed.

Or this suggestion from the support FAQ if the above doesn't work.

Error: Could not create your Galactic Civilizations IV user data folder. 

On Windows, go to your 'Windows Defender Settings' --> 'Virus and threat protection --> Ransomware protection --> Turn off 'Controlled folder access':

was a big fan of galciv 3 played on steam. loved what i saw from the videos on youtube.

however,

found myself asking for a refund after spending way way to long trying to get past this error of the game.
