Galactic Civilizations IV 0.95 update

*** RELEASED ON TEST 4/20/22 ***

Features

  • You can now assign custom flavor text for the civilizations you create.
  • The Infinite Archive galactic challenge now provides more prestige, but gives all your techs to all other players in the game.
  • Added the Continue button to the main menu.
  • You can set manufactured goods to repeat in your shipyards.

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where sometimes Binary sector map size wouldn't generate a 2nd sector.
  • Fixed an issue where Strip Mining and engineered Landslide weren't breaking out their impact on pollution.
  • Fixed an issue that caused blocked tiles when using Ctrl+N.
  • Fixed an issue where custom ship styles wouldn't have caretakers or mission ships.
  • Fixed an issue where you could build economic rings on mining starbases.
  • Fixed an issue where you could open trade (and declare peace) during the Everwar.
  • Desync fixes in MP.
  • Fixed an issue where custom factions wouldn't have a victory movie.
  • Fixed an issue where the "confirm" dialog when spending a culture trait would get queued behind other popups.

Balance

  • Representation culture trait changed to all colonies generate Influence.
  • Devotion culture trait changed to +2 Control per Turn and all leaders get the Tradition ideology.
  • Negotiators culture trait changed to +3 Diplomatic Capital per turn.
  • Planning culture trait changed to +8 Logistics (instead of +10).
  • Reduced the Mimot homeworld from 24 food to 18.
  • Increased the Mimot food per pop from 1.2 to 1.5.
  • Added missing faction descriptions.
  • Typo fixes.
  • Rebalanced Prestige awards for all galactic challenges.
  • Capsule anomalies are more common.
  • Capsule anomalies can produce Credits.
  • Capsule anomalies can produce Helios Ore.
  • Capsule anomalies can produce Durantium.
  • Capsule anomalies can produce Promethion.
  • Space Junk anomalies are less common.

AI

  • AI more likely to make less desirable worlds into core worlds.

UI

  • Planet list can now be sorted on Food.
  • Planet list can now be sorted on Planet Class.
  • Descriptive tooltips added for all the turn button states.
  • Prestige rewards are now displayed on the Galactic Challenge screen.
  • Implemented WASDQE for camera controls on the ship design screens.
  • All starting shipyards have custom names.
  • You can now mouseover Planet names in events to see the planet stats.
  • You can now mouseover Leader names in events and see the leader stats.

Being able to mouseover Planet and Leader names in events and get details on them is one of my favorite QoL features. And these are nested tooltips so if you hold the Shift key you can mouseover the tooltip and see details (for example, what the traits are on that leader).

Any thoughts on adding more choices to Custom Civs?  IMHO the ability to choose factions, even if it's simply a drop down of groupings available, is needed.  Ability to add a custom home star system would be nice too.  If these types of additional tweaking will need to be done in a mod I'll understand B)

I'm guessing this is a typing error and "more likely" is supposed to be "less likely."

I'm not sure. If you have no core worlds in a sector, their decay is automatically 100% and the AI seems slow to turn those worlds into core worlds.

Nope. Basically the AI wouldn't consider worlds under planet class 20 for core worlds. Now it's a little less picky.

It keeps the AI from being shipyard constrained when it has limited options.

Good news about the fixes to the MP desync issues, Derek.

Any chance that V 0.95 can be released by Noon Monday (PST), so that my friend and I can continue our weekly MP game with the new version? I will report any remaining MP desyn issues then.

Thanks

0.95 has been released on test.

We have fixed some desync issues. But we are spending today hunting for more. Cari has given QA some special code to help isolate and identify desync issues. So its an area we continue to work on.
