Thanks for the response.

Yeah, now I see the drop shadows when enabling the static tile image, but, why can't it still be rounded (cropping the edges/borders of the image)? Isn't it posible to round the tile still? I don't know what technology and libraries are being used for start11, but in CSS as an example you can still have an image in an element and round the element, it just crops the borders of the image.

About the option to disable the static tile image, this is an example of how useful it can be:

Everything is the same color except Chrome that just loads another background color and doesnt change anything else, icon and text show as default.

Or Hyperx NGENUITY:

Has the same color but uses a bigger icon and removes text.

So if we had the option to just right click and select "Do not load static tile image for this tile" it would fix a lot of this issues.

I mean, start11 is about having more options than default windows.

I fiddled with the Edge profiles some more and feel like this is Stardock issue now.

The "default" profile no longer behaves as expected. It now opens the last profile used instead of the one main one that was pinned. No amount of re-pinning or changing settings seems to fix it.

Above is before install, below is after.

Upon wake from sleep, the icons on the taskbar sometimes don't work -- I can click on the Start button and the start menu appears, but none of the other icons I have pinned to the taskbar work.  Ending and restarting Explorer.exe resolves.

When in the "not working" state, although the start button makes the start menu appear, the button is not "animated" - the button doesn't display a visual reaction to the mouse activity upon it.

When I open a command prompt window by clicking the Start button and then typing "CMD<enter>" into the search pane, the console window that opens does NOT get keyboard focus - characters typed end up on the search pane.

If I click on Start again and start typing characters, they do NOT appear on the search pane - they just go into the bit bucket.  If I open and close the Start Menu 3-4 times then the search pane starts to accept characters again.

Great to have the taskbar - ungroup feature back ;-)

I'm using a 32" screen, and like to have the taskbar items centered.

Would prefer to have the Start/Search button centered (left of centered) as well.

Win11 21H2 10.0.22000.493

Can I add the request to *please* permit the taskbar to be oriented vertically on a screen edge?!

There appear to be a few third party hack to achieve this but reading the blurb looks like it reverts back to some other Win10 functionality that I'm concerned might interfere with Start 11

Cheers,
Chris

I cannot confirm the first one as it's fine for me, but I see the same for the right-click on the left.

Actually I do get the same but only after the other problem happens - can fix it by restarting Explorer

When I turn on "Let Start11 enhance the taskbar", my open applications are no longer on the taskbar.
When I turn it off, my open applications return.

Is this normal?

No, it wouldn't be confusing (at least for me). You can just use the window preview to see what it is. Works the same, but doesn't take up all the extra space. Preview shows the contents and the same label. An option to turn it on and off would be preferred. That way we can customize it the way we want it.

I’m really confused by this post. You want ungrouping of app windows on the Taskbar, but you don’t want text labels in order to save space. You say you can identify the windows by the preview thumbnail, but isn’t that how the default taskbar works? If you are identifying windows by the preview thumbnail anyway, wouldn’t it save even more space to just have one tab on the Taskbar for all those windows?

I have been thinking about these types of requests . I believe the core problem people are running into is taskbar overflow issues. I think there are several different ways to overcome this issue but it is kind of hard to really pinpoint the best solution. One idea I have would be to double stack tabs by providing two rows in the taskbar. Another yet, would be to slightly decrease the width of each tab so more can fit.

You can already drag the taskbar to be more rows.  Buttons also shrink as much as they reasonably can when space gets low and then the taskbar gains a scrollbar.

Same, the beta works fine for me, but knowing the vertical TB is rally what I bought S11 for, and now it can be done on side developments, I really want that to make it in (as I trust stardock more than others)

Yes
Through 7+ taskbar tweaker, the option existed and it's very usefull.

So ungrouping with no label should be a great option.

Very good work thank you thank you :)

Beta 15/16: Pinned Taskbar icons not functioning via Pen or Touch

I have a Dell XPS 2in1 (9575) laptop/tablet.  The icons pinned to the taskbar do not respond to my pen or touch screen on beta 15 and 16. They do respond to the touchpad cursor.   They do function properly (respond to pen, touch screen, touchpad) on stable version 1.11.

I have been waiting for the ungrouping option on the task bar.  Cannot understand why MS removed it in the first place.

Thank you

Windows 11 21H2 (build 22000.556)

If I enable "Let Start11 enhance the taskbar" (and restart explorer), I loose access to the quick actions area and the notification area.

Also, when I set the taskbar to double height the system tray overlaps with the (no longer functional) quick action area.

Other than that it looks and works great! Keep up the great work!

I installed the beta on Win 11 verr. 21H2 build 22000.318 and found on the following:

- if I select the small size of the taskbar, the time and date are moved down and therefore are partially cut off

- is it possible to keep start button in central position and keep the icons of opened windows in the taskbar not combined? Explorer patcher does this

Thanks

Read the thread to see if there were any like mine but I seem to be alone in this so without the Taskbar enabled I have the standard looking icons all grouped together like so the first image

However once I enable to taskbar setting and choose never combine I seem to lose all my icons even after an explorer refresh and windows reboot,  Uninstall and reisntall has not resolved this

The only way I can see any icons after that is to disable the taskbar and restart explorer.
