Sovereign Starting Stats

Every civ has it's own Sovereign governor; the leader automatically assigned to the home world. One would hope that this governor of our home world would be among the best of our kind, a shining example of what every member of our species looks up to as an example of the best of the best.

Yet when we first open the governor screen to take a look at our glorious leader, we are often met with extreme disappointment. We see a leader with stats that we would never even consider paying the recruitment fee for when hiring new leaders. Something abysmal like a 3 intelligence, 12 social (and they get an automatic +10 in the social stat), 2 diligence, and 4 resistance. So we sit there looking at this pathetic specimen of our species wondering to ourselves... "How the heck did this sad sack become the face of our mighty civilization?"

Could we get something put in the program that ensures our Sovereign governor at least has average stats? Like at least a minimum average of 5 across all four of the stats (NOT counting the +10 in social !!!) It is pretty sad when you get a home world governor that you wish you could replace with almost ANY leader out of the recruitment pool.

Happy Bug Squashing!

Sovereign stats would be a good way to balance races, but with race customization it doesn't really work. If the community comes up with a system of achievements, I would recommend that the race-based ones require you to not make any modifications from the defaults.

Interesting. I don't think we've really had a proper discussion on the starting leader. I'll bring it up and show the team this post. There might be something we can do but it might be a post-1.0 thing now.

yeah, customization of that would be nice, but that would lead to people making "perfect" leaders. i think that it would take a more complex system with points that could be put in and possibly diminishing returns if you wanted to try to keep things balanced. kinda similar to making a DnD char's stats... would be cool though :) would be nice for Gorignak, who is the leader of my last custom silicon-based civ: "The Stalagmighty Empire," to be able to have a very high diligence set for him ;)

btw, i have totally seen how bad leaders like that come to power... born rich and already in power is a perfect example.

I agree. I'm going to give sovereigns +5 in Int, resolve and diligence to go with the +10 they already get in loyalty so they are a good example of their species.
