WAR !!! WAR !!! WAR !!!

So I was getting ready to make myself a new core world, and started browsing through my leader pool looking for a suitable governor. As I was browsing, I noticed the diplomat I had assigned to the Torians sitting there in my leader pool. I wondered how the heck he got there, and went to the diplomats screen to put him back with the Torians. There I discovered that apparently the Torians had declared war on me. I was totally unaware that they had declared war on me. I went back a reloaded a save from a few turns before, and the Torians had apparently declared war on me at least before that save.

So I had played a least a few turns with the Torians at war with me, and I never even knew I was at war. With all the annoying pop up windows that block everything until you interact with them to get them out of the way, you would think of all things somebody declaring war on you would be one of those pop up windows. It should be in great big letters in a pop up that fills the whole screen like "THE TORIANS HAVE DECLARED WAR ON US !!!!!"

But nope, I had no clue at all I was at war with the Torians until I was just casually browsing through my leader pool, and just happened to notice the diplomat to them has been unassigned.

Please make it much much MUCH more obvious when another civ declares war on the player.

Happy Bug Squashing!

I just had the same thing happen in my game.  No notice of declared war, but a then a Torian fleet destroyed Earth's Starbase.  I went back a couple of saves & sure enough I had been at war with them, but didn't know it.  Maybe it's just the Torian Civ?  Anyone else seeing this with other Civ's?

I'm also at war with the Manti, again no notice.  On the summary screen (upper right corner) the Civs that are at war with you show little red fists.  So there is a visible clue at least. }:)

It's possible that they did declare war on you, but the message you got was not an obvious declaration of war.  I reported one in version 0.71.

When I got that message I didn't realize it was a declaration of war until I was attacked.  I have seen many others that aren't clear.  Here is one.

Possible responses like in those two screenshots should be a clue that they have declared war on you.

It would be better if a note was included in the message that you are now at war.

Ya I have seen screens like that when somebody declares war on me before. I understand what those mean. I never had any kind of dialog screen pop up from the Torians. Zero indications they had declared war on me.

That's interesting. I bet Old-Spider is right and the war declaration is happening, it's just being mistaken for the AI being chatty.

I'll add some highlight color text to those dialogs specifically saying: (War has been Declared)
