blank screen result

top line is still active

Whenever I get the message "the citizens of xxx are unhappy" and click on the message, the screen clears off and leaves only the top line of the display.   One way out of it that I have found is to click on the "research" entry area;  that will bring me back to full control.

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Can you confirm this issue is still occurring?

Yes.  It's a very common experience.  In my latest play through I decided to wait for the next update.  Just about every message in the upper right that says "Planet xxx is unhappy" if I click on the message I get a blank screen except for the very top of the display.  I can regain control by clicking in the research window, which is just visible.

I can provide other info if needed, like game files.   Easy to obtain.

Thank you for confirming. I will see if I can reproduce the issue on my machine.

please note that this is not the "left side of screen is moved out of view when looking at the planet screen issue that I have also had along with others.

Unfortunately I have been unable to reproduce this display/UI issue at this time. I have not given up on trying to reproduce it though.

Can you provide some additional information for me? Can you click start, and type run (or search run). When the run box opens type dxdiag and click okay. When the DirectX box pops up there will be an option at the bottom to Save All Information. Can you DM me that file?

Hope that helps. (Dropbox link)

(edit)

I have been trying to produce a  result so I can send save files and pictures.  I am slowed because I am not well (for me mentally people have been saying that for quite a while) and because the playthrough was far enough along that I had thoroughly brought unhappiness under control.  I will start a new run and see if I can produce it.  Should really be that hard.

Thank you for your efforts to gather data for this bug. We greatly appreciate it! If you are able to capture a screenshot of the issue that will help us out a lot.

Yes Should have done that already.  I guess my testing hat that I wore during the gc3 beta has worn off.   Much more detail I hope soon.    BTW since 81B dropped I haven't seen the problem, but it does require one to have an unhappy core world, so...

v .81:   I started a new game and intentionally did not optimize my settings to minimize unhappiness.  My first colony quickly became unhappy.  I saved and clicked on the "the citizen of  xxx are unhappy" notification (upper right of screen).  And there was no problem.  I will continue to test this until there is a coup displacing me as administrator (the natives are restless).   This is one instance but it is hopeful.

(edit - 20 min later)  A second colony is unhappy and again clicking on "the citizens of xxx are unhappy" worked as intended, the left chunk of the display snapped into place as intended.  Since previously (on .77) I got misbehavior on every instance that this message was displayed I am beginning to think that something has changed for the better in the new release.  Don't know what, it could just be the routine for scaling the display setup.  Whatever.  I will let you know if I see any issues.

Thank you for continuing to test. I'll keep an eye out in this thread in the event you are able to get it to occur again.
