Upgrade from 3 to 4

I just noticed that there is a version 4 of Fences and my licence of Fences 3 does not work on 4.
Do I need to buy version 4?

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having issues.

Yes you will need to buy a new Lic. 4 is an upgrade not an update .

So instead of fixing the problems of Version 3 which you decided to stop supporting this version, release a new one and expect me pay again?
and let you scam me again when you decide to release it again as Fences 5?
No thanks

Fences 3 work for a lot of users and you have not mentioned with one word what problems you have faced with it, so maybe you should start a new thread and we will all try to help you. Noone is forcing you to upgrade to version 4 with lots of new features if you don't want to.

Lets assume that the bugs I have are only happening on my machine.. and the fixing of those problems depend solely on my reports of them... Are there even active developement of Version 3? because it really sounds like it has been abbandoned

If that is the case, It would be really great if thos issues got solved:

Inconsistent Grid placement. When you drag a icon, moving it to a new position results in the icon beeing placed in another position. Icons will frequently simply refuse to stay in the spot it where dropped, isntead of aligning with the desktop grid, it will instead junmp to somewhere else, sometimes, behind a fence, which is extremely annoying to get it back, specially when it is combined with the next problem- Imovable icons. Frequentely, Fences will completely ignore the position where I dropped an icon, for example:

  1. Take a file from a folder portal to desktop
  2. Delete the file
  3. Restore the file
  4. Move it to other folder
  5. Move it back to desktop

The icon will then ignore the position I dragged it to and will isntead jump to the position it where before deleted

- Selection issues. Sometimes, when doing actions that involve targeting the selected icons, Fences will aply those actions to icons that ware not selected, it consistently happen to icons that where selected at some time and are not anymore. This happens all the time with dragging, copyng, moging from / to a fence and when using drag and drop from desktop to a window, it will drop unintended icons on the program.

I truly believe that issues like this not being solved because lack of reporting are pure bullshit. It happens on a daily basis with no effort to reproduce.

In conclusion Stardock either don't use (or properly test) their own software or are simply neglecting those issues that are well aware and isntead pushing a new version of the program with the intention of making people pay for the fixes on the software they already paid for
I feel scammed by Stardock and I'm not spending any more money with this company.

Best I can say is there will be no other updates for v3

You can try the trial version of v4 and see if its works

better for you before you buy.

It's not a scam, dude.  It has always been, and should be, that your subscription gets you free "updates" not "upgrades".  I see you have been here since 2017, you "should" know this by now. Going from one version to the next is an UPGRADE.  All changes within a version number are free UPDATES.   Nothing is new here.

This is not a upgrade, this is a bug fix with a new skin labeled as an upgrade to grab extra cash from idiots like me who bought it in first place..
Silly me expecting the software I bought to recive bug fixes..
Bold assumption that I wouldn't have to keep spending money to get bug fixes..
Imagine paying for a software and expecting it to work? No no no, I need to buy my bug fixes now, no suport included, apaprently

Has suport for Version 3 ended?
I'm still using the same OS, on the very same machine, same environment of when I| bought it.. am I asking too much expecting the software to work as it is advertized? in fact, why it is even still selling if it has no support? Shouldn't it get pulled out from the store?
