AI Galactic Achievement, what is the "so what"?

Why do I care?

V0.77, just received a pop up notifying me that an AI opponent had completed a galactic achievement.

  • That is cool, but why do I care?
  • What does (insert achievement name here) even do?
  • Did that impact the overall victory conditions?
  • There is no game log icon, at least lasting until the end of the turn, that the player can return to and re-check the event.

basically you care because those galactic achievements are all classified as "one per galaxy" so once another race builds one you cannot anymore. beyond that it just kinda lets u know what the other races are building and specializing in.

My post was somewhat tongue in cheek and I agree that the player knows they probably should care, but by what degree should they care and what did they miss out on?

My concerns:

  • Available Galactic Achievements are shown in the planet improvement menu, but unless I am missing something I don't see data on them anywhere else.  Once once is built then you cannot see what the stats are for that achievement anywhere that I am aware of.
  • Searching 'achievements' in the Technology Library returns no results, so if there are galactic achievements yet to come then the player will not know how to get to them.
  • The pop-up that notifies you the AI got a galactic achievement gives no indication of what the benefit of that achievement is for the UI, at a minimum the player should be able to mouse over the name of the achievement and see what it does.  Since they are such a big deal the player should know the impact when one is built and how that may change the complexion of the game.
