There are many players in China, why not support Chinese?

If it can support Chinese, it will gain the support of many players. When will Chinese be added? Up to now, there are still games that do not support Chinese, which makes me very incomprehensible. After all, many games have gained more players because they support Chinese. I thought it would support Chinese, so I bought it, but when I downloaded it, I found that it still didn't support Chinese, and I returned it directly. As far as I know, many Chinese players have returned it because of this.

We will be supporting Chinese. But we do the translation near the end of development once all of the text is finalized. This applies ot other languages too.

Also, do video game have a futur in China? At the speed that the PCC is putting pressur on the time play (2 hours by week) and what can be played (no new games have been autorized from some time). Maybe adding a new civ: the trans-galactic China, with only the PCC (party comunist China) as the only internal faction avallaible that win the game at turn two. Even if played by an AI, And in multi-players everyone selecting this civ, win the game. If this civ is added, it may need to add 1001+ pages of historic background of the greath China and why it have the only governement type that is worth to be the leader of the Earth. And finaly, in China just to be on the save side, only civ that be selected will be the greath trans-galactic China. /irony tone off Maybe it only for a short time that thew PCC is going to be anti-video games, before relaxing back. It hard to say, and only time will say. But the signals that China is emiting presently are worring. Eridalafar PS: It will be a very bad idea to use a teddy bear as the civ leader.

A quick question: how I can create an end of line (enter) caracter, so I can avoid making huge wall of text when I write in this forum? Eridalafar

As far as I'm concerned, Chinese language (at least simplified) is a must for all our games.

That said, it is very unlikely we will have translations ready by 1.0 because we're adding so much new text content right up until the 11th hour.  So we'll end up having to roll this out post-release.

We don't want a situation like we had with Star Control where we rushed to get multiple languages out and the translations weren't very good.  I personally find it a little disrespectful when companies don't do a good job translating into other languages.

But Chinese, German, Spanish, French, Polish, Portuguese, Italian, Russian are all in the works.  But not for 1.0 unfortunately.

Taking his time to get the translation rigth is a good pratice. It will avoid that scouting's vessel become spotligth's vessel by the magic of the translation (to french) as it have happened in galciv III. (testing shift-enter for end of line.) Eridalafar

o

You should have seen some of the...stuff in Star Control: Origins.

We are also looking for good translators for Russian and Chinese in particular.  GalCiv has some humor in it and as we learned from Star Control, humor requires some extra translation thought (i.e. literal translation doesn't work so well).

Thanks to the official staff for respecting the game's support for Chinese work, I believe it will be very good. I will buy it and recommend it to everyone.
