Windows 11 DEV build is considered a different OS then Windows 11 and Windows 11 BETA. Windows 11 DEV is a sandbox for experimentation for things that may or may not be included in Windows 11. A few months back I did a clean install to get rid of the DEV build, I believe that is the only way. I did not like the direction of the DEV build because it was breaking too many things and it was watermarked and set to expire making it feel like an online only OS.

To do a clean install you can get an ISO image from Microsoft here

Just installed the latest Start 11 beta hoping that Spotlight images at Lock Screen on Windows 11 will work. Unfortunately, images do not change at all, and startup apps do not pre-loading @ lock screen. Uninstalling Start 11 fixes both issues. Are there any plans to fix it?

I have multiple monitors turned on

How many is multiple?  If you reduce it to 2, does it still happen?

Quoting LT1Z51, reply 23

This is on a corporate laptop so it's Windows Enterprise, and if it helps, my non-laptop screen is the one which is my primary monitor.

Unlikely but are you able to do this full clean boot (including a new Win Admin account) to see if the issue remains?

I can confirm that this was definitely a Windows issue.  Having done a torturous update to Win 11 (first time backing out all of the changes made to Windows, so having to go through the whole thing all over again !), I am now back up and running with the new version and can happily change volume with keyboard buttons without explorer crashing every time.

Note to self - have more faith in Stardock next time and less faith in Microsoft !

1 monitor, 1 laptop screen.  Different resolutions.  Monitor is primary, laptop secondary.

I can’t create new accounts.

Killing Explorer.exe and reloading it sometimes fixes the issue.  I just did that and both screens are centered.

Hi, is there any other way to install the beta? May be an installer?

Somehow, my account does not have Start11 registered and I don't know why.

So, the method you showed doesn't work for me.

I can provide license key if needed.

Thank you.

Do you actually have purchased Start11 before this? If you have, betas download link should be available in your product account page :  https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products. If not, please raise a Support ticket using link below. Include all your purchase details and Support will help you from there.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. More details on your issue.

  1. Windows full version numbers, you can get those using Windows own Winver.exe.
  2. Start11 version numbers.
  3. What is the problem? Error message pop up? More details please.

Thanks

Start 11 default search:

Start 11 search with old start 10 style:

Windows 11 default search:

Includes new 64-bit service

I am curious how that service works once updated

Just an FYI this version is in an Update loop in Object Desktop where it thinks it needs an update.  Similar to previous versions.

Again, its an issue with ODM that we need to deal with.

In the install directory for Start11, Start11Config.exe, properties, details will show the extended version

Sorry for the confusion.

Please consider implementing the suggestion concerning the taskbar clock as described at

One issue I am seeing in 1.11 and 1.1.1 is that both Sublime Text, and Sublime Merge show up as blank white generic documents instead of their shortcut images. The Windows 11 start menu and task bar do not have this issue. This also extends to JetBrains products, but those tends to fix themselves over time. I've cleared icon and thumbnail caches and rebooted, and nothing has helped.

Installed 1.1.1.1 and the Windows 10 Start Button not Centering issue still exists.  Seems to always be on the Primary screen now.  Killing the explorer.exe task and restarting it fixes it.
