Fences 2.0

Should I Upgrade to Fences 4.0?

Hi.  I bought Fences 2.0 back in 2012 and it has worked great for me ever since.  I just did a fresh install of Windows 11 on my PC and was about to install Fences again and noticed that Fences 4 is available now but it seems to have almost the exact same feature set as 2.0.

Can anyone tell me why I should upgrade from 2 to 4?  Is there really a compelling reason?  I might do it anyway just to have the latest since it's only about $8 for the upgrade, but I wonder if I should bother or just keep using Fences 2.

What do you guys think?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Not sure if Fences V2 work on Windows 11. But, Fences 4 does. You should do the 30 days free trial and see for yourself if Fences 4 worth for you or not. https://www.stardock.com/products/fences/

Thanks

Thanks for the reply.  By the way, I'm not having any issues.  I'm just curious as to why I should upgrade from Fences 2.

Fences4 is designed to work with and including features for Windows11

Fences2 is not . Try the Trial you'll see .

Quick update:

I ended up buying Fences 4 because for the price, why spend more time thinking about it (especially since Fences 2 has given me so much benefit over the past 8 years I have owned it)?

My findings after half a day of use:

  • 4 is better than 2 but it's not night and day - the differences to me are there but not huge... yet.
  • I like the greater granularity with appearance customization.
  • I like the roll-up feature.
  • I like the flexibility to the rules.  I have not dug into that yet to see how I can use it more, but I see how the rules system can be quite powerful.

Otherwise, it does most of the same things Fences 2 did for me.  I'm glad I upgraded and expect to get another 7-8 years out of it before I may feel like upgrading again.

Nice piece of software that does the job you want, but isn't too complicated if you don't want it to be.
