Explorer constantly crashing

Fences and start 11 crashes explore (windows 11)

Fences, start 11, and perhaps other apps from object desktop cause windows 11 explore to repeatedly crash,.

The only apps that are causing explore to crash are from object desktop.

I remove all of these apps and windows explorer remains stable. I loved start11, fences, tabby, and desk scapes. But installing any of these items causes explorer to crash often. they have been removed for a couple of weeks and explore has not crashed once.

Please fix this Stardock.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Can you figure out which of the apps from your objectDesktop is causing the crashes? Than we can help you see what is the issue. Please reinstall all of the apps one at a time and test the crashing issue, before moving to another one.

Thanks

Well, I know that at least three of them cause it. I only have a week before an unstable explorer is not tolerable. then I must return to school. I will install my favorite, start11. What should I do when explorer crashes ?

If you install only Start11, if explorer.exe still crash. report back here.

Well, yesterday, I installed start11. No problems. I will install desk-scape next, I adore those wallpapers. This is a fresh installation of windows. I installed a clean copy less than a month ago.

I'll install each of my favorite items once a day and report here after the first employer crash.

DeskScapes caused immediate and repeated explorer crashes directly after setting a wallpaper.

what should I do now?

I disabled deskscapes via its settings. I then restarted the computer because deskscapes was repeatedly freezing itself.

I fear that deskscapes has created an issue that will require the complete removal of all objectdesktop apps again. I dare not uninstall it or anything more for fear of further harm to my system.

Hopefully, you can resolve this before school starts on the 5th.

I await your response. -_-

Please do not remove all OD apps. It most probably involve Deskscape alone. Please try purge and reinstall steps as mentioned here: [link]. (Deskscape only). Just make sure to redownload the latest Deskscape version from your account. Reboot after the purged. Reinstall, and Reboot again after the installation. Retest it. Report back here.

  1. Extracted zip file
  2. executed bat files as the administrator
  3. rebooted
  4. installed from object desktop application
  5. rebooted
  6. resumed Deskscapes from taskbar icon
  7. selected a background
  8. Deskscapes froze - explorer did not crash
  9. rebooted computer as a simple means to clear the crash
  10. disable Deskscapes from the taskbar menu icon

Deskscapes froze - explorer did not crash

When that happen, can you take a video capture of it. Need to know where/when it froze.

The above link contains the recording.

This time, Deskscapes froze, repeatedly crashed explorer, and caused a peeping sound. That could be my desktop recording software reacting to explorer crashes. I don't know.

I hope this helps.

  1. Created user with administrator status - User name = test
  2. Rebooted into the test user account
  3. Deskscapes functioned without issue - conditions: specific monitor, all monitors, animated, still
  4. returned here to report results.

What can I do now? Deskscapes is currently the only software on my computer that freezes and causes explorer crashes.

Hello,

OK, so in a Clean Boot DeskScapes works fine you say , that means you have 3party issue

causing the problem .

Try this with the Deskscapes settings menu

you'll see 3 options to click on try all 3 one might work better than the other

The other two methods also cause Deskscapes to freeze.

What now?

As I said you have third party issue causing your problem .

Deskscapes works as it should.

Support office still closed for the holidays till the 3rd.

Ill see if they have an answer for you when they return.

Also need to know some more info

What version of Windows ( full numbered version ) ?

Make sure your version of Deskscapes is up to date .

Ok.

Edition Windows 11 Pro

Version 21H2

Installed on ‎12/‎20/‎2021

OS build 22000.376

Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22000.376.0

---

Deskscapes is Version 11 BETA 5

How did I get a Beta version? That may be the trouble. I need a stable version!

:O

---

I checked for a non-beta version and found this:

System Requirements

Windows 10 64-bit (Version 21H1 and earlier)

Download/Purchase DeskScapes 11 Beta : Software from Stardock

I do not have an earlier version of windows 10 installed.

DS11 Beta is the right version , and is not the problem

you can see I upload Dreams daily with that version No issues.

as I said you have some 3rd party software that seems to be causing your issues .

or possibly some Windows config causing an issue .

Hi All, I got Object Desktop a week ago and some time Fence close because explorer crash. This create a loop with a execution of new explorer then it close again. Seem Fence my problem. I got this problem only when Fence is enabled. I got the entire pack for Fence :) I use also Groupy, Start11. I also got ObjectDock but with this one opened is hard to recover for the above problem so, right now, i uninstalled it.

My specs are: Windows 11 home, Ryzen 3950x  64gb, Rtx 2080 Super and 3 monitors.

i already tried all things i found in the forum... but still the problem happen almost every day and now seem that Fence will not work anymore also after a reboot. I'll try tomorrow.

Best
