GC4 EA Feedback Test Branch | VERSION 0.70.274272

How To Handle Space Bugs

So you want to help us deal with space bugs huh? Well, there are plenty of them. Here we will give you some pointers on how to best help us.

Go to give feedback

  • You can also create your own unique threads and link them here. But include at least the basic details here!
  • Ensure the issue/feedback you are talking about is relevant to the VERSION NUMBER listed (See below for how)
  • Make sure all of your drivers are updated and verify the game files after every update before reporting an issue. This can often be the culprit.
  • If there is a bug that keeps repeating:
    • Include all steps you make to reproduce it.
    • Include any save games including auto saves.
    • Also please include debug.err files and pref.ini files as they can help with reproducing map generation or graphical errors.
    • When the crash dialogue appears ensure you put in an e-mail for our devs to follow up

How to tell which version you are on?

The Advanced Aurorus Arboretum says it gives +30% tourism, but the planetary income tooltip only shows tourism as +15%. Looks like the increased tourism from the upgrade didn't get applied. It's also difficult to track down the effects of tourism, you have to go to each core world and examine the planetary income tooltip for each one.

There needs to be a way to see which of your colonies have resources on them, more quickly than clicking on each colony in turn on the galaxy map. I just got the Precursor Archeology tech, which allows me to build Orbital Precursor Nanites, and now I have to go click on all of my colonies to find out which have Precursor Nanites.

How does +11% -50% -10% add up to +0.5%?

I decided to try out one of the Galactic Achievements, and activated Penultipox.  The objective is to build or trade for a wonder that can cure the disease. Since I had already researched Xeno Biology, the Plague Research Center was immediately available to build, and I built it on my home world. The negative affects on my planets are gone,, but the achievement did not complete. It's still appearing up on the left where the missions do, the Galactic Achievements window shows it at 0% complete, and the Prestige Victory tooltip still shows Galactic Achievements 0.

The saved game can be found here.

Baratak Grove's Spore ability does not seem to give any production input points points to the planets in the Baratak home system.  They both got resource deposits, but no industry, technology, wealth, farming or influence displayed.

Edit: Once colonized, the planets do indeed have production inputs to provide.

"Stimulas" should be "Stimulus"

Known bug. They show as 0/0/0/0/0 until you colonize the planet. So you don't know what you're going to get until you colonize, but that will be fixed.

Baratak Grove shipyard background positioning is off-center.

That "-50%" is "*0.5".

Not only known but mentioned in the .70 change log.

I am unable to assign anyone to a faction.  Is there a prereq?

In my current game I am unable to assign a leader to the Endless Emporium. Hovering over the header of that column shows a tooltip that says that a Minister of Finance is required. There may be similar requirements for the other 3, but since I'm already able to place leaders there the tooltip isn't showing me requirements anymore.

Edit: I just started a new game as the Yor, and while the Endless Emporium is locked at the start of the game, the other 3 are available to me right from turn 1.

What race are you playing?

I must have a bug.  None of my factions have names.

I'd recommend you do a verify files to make sure you don't have any installation problems. The columns should at least be labeled.

No luck.  I tried to start a new game and that didn't help either.

Any new suggestions?

My Factions don't have labels either, but it does say "coming soon" when you mouse over "Factions".  Playing as Terrans.

Civilization Ranks of 11 should read "11th" not "11st"

I started a new game as Drath and now I too have only "Name" for each of the 4 factions. My previous games on .70 were as Baratak Grove and Corporate Sector, and they were able to assign leaders to factions, but I didn't check for that on the very first move. So maybe something is unlocking them?

I just deleted the GalCiv4 folder in my documents and now I have Factions turn 1.  Something in the legacy game data appears to affect it.

Terran and Baratak

Ok, it appears that any race I had made customizations to in a previous alpha version won't have the Factions window available if I start a new game and keep the old customizations. I erased all my old race customizations files from my My Games\GalCiv4\Factions\CustomTemp folder, started a new game as Drath, and now the Factions window is available.

I got an event about a religious cult. First choice was gain a leader, 2nd was an increase in global income, 3rd was gain a cleric citizen. I chose the cleric citizen but no citizen showed up.
